    Default Laying Drags

Found out something today, you know no matter where you are, even on private property, its illegal to lay drag in the state of GA....Just thought it might be some helpful information to everyone. I went to court today and some kid was trying to fight it, but they pulled the book out and read to him the EXACT LAW from the GA "LAW BIBLE"....I didnt know this

right... so if I get kinda stuck in some mud or snow, I'd better not spin my tires more than they're distance their covering. I was under the impression that the owner of the property had to be willing to press charges for police to press charges.

so essentially doing a burnout in any burnout box including the one at Nopi is illegal?

come on man, i would think you're smart enough to figure out that certain venues/events have provisions for these things . what's the big deal?

I say we start making laws specifically targeted at the po po. Like:
No more that 2 donuts an hour
No excessive speeding when your not chasing anyone
No use of police lights and sirens when they are too lazy to wait for the light

    How about some more.

smells like BS to me. if you leave any markings and/or squeal the tires taking off the cop can write you a ticket if they so please.

Its been a few weeks since anything had been said about laying drag. I actually got a ticket and I am in the process of fighting it. I have spoken to a few police officers and lawyers to determine if I broke the law. All of them said i didn't do anything wrong.

Laying drag is driving in a zig-zag or circular pattern in order to induce wheel spin. Which means, if you spin off the line, but maintain a straight line, you are not breaking any laws. However, of course there is a catch to this, if a cop sees you, he CAN give you a ticket for wreckless driving or possibly racing, depending on the situation.

Hope this clears a few things up.
    umm, sweet.

...they changed it recently, it used to be: if you are on private property, outside the right-of-way of a city, county, or state maintained road then you can not be charged with it. If you get caught doing it on private property then the only thing that can be done is for the police to contact the owner and it's up to him/her to press charges, whether it be trespassing, property damage, or both. BUT now the code states:

    40-6-251.
    (a) No driver of any motor vehicle shall operate the vehicle upon the public streets, highways, public or private driveways, airport runways, or parking lots in such a manner as to create a danger to persons or property by intentionally and unnecessarily causing the vehicle to move in a zigzag or circular course or to gyrate or spin around, except to avoid a collision or injury or damage.
    (b) The offenses described in this Code section shall be sufficiently identified on any traffic ticket, warrant, accusation, or indictment when referred to as 'laying drags.'
    (c) This Code section shall not apply to drivers operating vehicles in or on any raceway, drag strip, or similar place customarily and lawfully used for such purposes.
    (d) Any person violating subsection (a) of this Code section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
