they aren't common at all. There's maybe 10 cars in Atlanta with a k swap. There's thousands with b series. K swap will run you 8000-9000$ minimum if you do the work yourself. That's a stock swap. Turbo built motor another 5000-7000. Its big money.

Set some realistic goals first and decide what you want and what your budget is

unless you have bill gates money, or the patience of ghandi. you will never have a fully built boosted and tuned k20 in an eg.

    spoken like a NOOB

K20s arent what costs money, its the mounts, KPRO, fuel system, brakcets, pulleys, etc that cost loot.

Built motor is $3000 in PARTS

Turbo kit is $3000 in PARTS.

Guys on here have built cars, we know what it costs.

but hey if you think you can do it, go for it, prove us all wrong

If you want to know about K20 swaps, IA isn't where you need to be spending your time. That and Mike probably knows more now then you will ever know. Search around before making BS threads.

Sounds like you have never built a car and you have no idea what it costs to build one like you want.

There are people on this site that have k20a2 swaps in their EGs or had them, PM them and ask what they spent.

    Josh Green
    EJohnson88

IIRC josh spent $7000-8000 on his STOCK SWAP and Evan spent over $10,000

thats an NA setup with no turbo and a stock engine.

If you think you can build some built motor k20 turbo swap for $5000, go do it, then let me know how you did it and ill pay you to build 10 of them.

I don't think the "attraction" is so much the case with this...I just got my EG and hope to have a k20 swap soon...Mr Kidd is dead on with about how much it's gonna cost...I've gone up and down everywhere I can look to see how much you would end up spending to get the swap running...8,000 is the cheapest I can possibly see getting said swap done. ( Thats even getting some of the parts used )...I just want to have mine NA...Building and tunning is the fun of doing what we do, just build it to suit what you want the car to be able to do...Not everyone has to be the biggest and best in all the land. IMO

I got stupid lucky on a engine swap and got some of my parts for cheaper than what they go for now, HOW IDK?
A little while after I did mine I realized how much of an idiot I was for putting that much money into a car that was worth $2500. With the amout of cars being stolen and not to mention parts are much more for those engines, axles, etc... I didnt get what I had into the swap out of the car. Who has $8-10k to spend on a 15yr old Honda, not the bank thats for sure. I think Mike knows what I am talking about..... IDK, fast STREET cars just seem like a waste of time/money/fuel.

But my **** still pwned Chunky's ass STOCK, isnt that right Mr. KIDD.....

Well lets propose the question that will surely be soon to follow...If it's not worth it to do the k20 swap in the car, what is worth putting into these EG's?

Of corse the b16 is fun...Then you've got gsr's, Type-R's...The list is endless, but which one is the cheapest/most fun?

if you are thinking about a k swap, have you looked into a k24?

most of the time: k24's offer more horsepower, lower compression that is good for turbo set ups, more torque: than a k20. sometimes the redline limite is not as high on k24 as a k20 though.

a k24 might not be as common as a k20... but i'm not for sure.

Again with the k24 you run into the price problem...They just get so damn expensive to put in and get running.

It all comes down to BUDGET, and i mean REALISTIC budget.

If you only have $3000 to spend, you cant do much, best bet is a B16 or LS swap. If you have $5000 you can do a GSR with bolt ons.

If you have $6000-7000 you can do a LS turbo

if you have $1000-2000, keep saving

It depends what your REALISTIC ultimate end goal is too. IF you would be happy with a turbo car making 250whp, then you can just turbo your D series, if you want 350- 500whp, you have to go B series. If you wan an NA car, then the best swap is the GSR or the ITR and bolt ons

he's already leaning toward a k20. it is not much of a price difference. both are going to be expensive as hell.

I also think it comes down on what you want the car to be capable of doing...I'm not looking to go over 250hp...I do kinda have my heart set on going all motor though, already done the boost thing with my SRT-4.

    i've seen k swaps do 400 + on a low boost setting.

well 250hp all motor will run you $10,000 easily if not more.

I spent about $9500 on my car that made 240whp and i did most of the work except build the motor.

Realistically 180-190whp is easy to get to, just a GSR swap, a header from me, an intake manifold and a tune an you can get there.

anything over 190-200whp you gotta go inside the motor.

Yeah I'm sure 190 would be plenty with such a light body style...And like you guy's stated before, to much hp = no traction.

Instead of wasteing the money on a turbo setup, just do this: a k20 bottem end/k24 head and build the sh*t out of it!!! N/a drives me !!! Besides, you dont wanna end up blowing anything after so much $$$ spent.
