Default Jesse's official wheel bitching thread.

    WTF.

what makes a car with some cheap ass, cleaned up junkyard wheels nice? it may look decent, but ONLY decent. and wtf is up with this trend of putting bbs or mesh wheels on hondas? SOMETIMES it looks good. but about 75% of these cars look cheap. and why would you put OEM wheels on a car from a different manufacturer? a perfect example of this is BMW bottlecaps on a honda. nobody could really want those heavy bitches.

and as far as OEM wheels go, a honda with OEM wheels that arent from that car or a VERY similar car looks like cheap junk. the only justification of putting on a different OEM wheel would be a performance upgrade, like wider width, lighter weight (and it better be by alotttttttttttt)

I can't stand 0 offset rims and rims that stick out like that in general. Your civic, accord, scion, 240sx, jetta, golf, etc DOESN'T and I repeat, DOESN'T, look good because it has wide ass rims that stick out. It makes it look like...

i was damn close to putting toyota celica-supra MK2 wheels, I even got a set but then decided not to put 'em on

but they would have been nice...

I would put some similar era wheels on before i'd put some aftermarket ones on (on that particular car, anyways)

To retain the stockish look, but have better looking wheels.

    Mind you they're only 14"

So your saying it was pointless for me to put my heavy Audi wheels on my VW. Stock wheels from one car to another might not look good to you, but they are fire to some one else. Its also not always about performance. VW cats been doing this for ever with audi, bmw, porsche, benz, buggatti, and bently wheels. Shat they are even starting to put vette saw blades on vdubs now. They look fuccing hawt on a mk3 gti/golf.

Good thing you're not driving all those other cars that look like as$ then... Here's the thing, it's THEIR car. Maybe they like it. That's why we all have opinions. Don't like it... Don't do it. I'm putting 300zx rims on my 240/Silvia this weekend. Does that make my car a heaping sh*tbox. No, I'm switching to 5 lug and 300zx calipers. The 300zx rims have tires to burn and will clear the calipers without spacers. Whereas the other THREE sets of rims in my garage need spacers, which I don't have yet. The point is, you have no idea what stage the car is in or what is planned. Maybe it's temporary, maybe it's not. As long as the guy/girl that has to drive the d@mn thing everyday likes it, that's all that matters.

    It all depends.
Tell me this doesn't look good.

It's not always about performance, some cars just arent fast, so they might as well look good.

Wheels on the VW look really good. I'm actually shocked. Didn't think Bentley wheels would look good on anything but a Bentley. Shows how much I'm use to seeing those high priced cars lol.

if the wheels didnt say bentley it would look good. but they do, and its NOT A ****ING BENTLEY. to me thats like putting lotus wheels on my miata. sure, they share the same BASIC ideas. a lightweight, reliable, fun to drive car. both are that, but my miata is DEFINITELY not an elan. thats called posing.

like i said, sometimes it looks good, but other times it looks cheap.

and as far as it being MY opinion, this is true. its also the WL which seems like a good place to put my opinion, in MY thread about MY opinion. if you dont agree, thats cool.

Okay but they are bently wheels? No one is going to confuse that dub for a bently.

We get it, it's YOUR thread. If people aren't allowed to disagree and post about it, please indicate that in your first post. Or just make a blog so no one can reply.

your right. they can come in here and speak their mind. thats the point of the forum. but coming in here and getting all hard about my hatred of cheap ass wheel whores and telling me im wrong is dumb. ITS AN OPINION. you have yours, i have mine. neither of us are right or wrong. some people might like the bentley wheels on the vdub, but i hate it.

and i dont think anybody would confuse a miata for an elan either, whether i had elan wheels or not. so yeah... kyle you make no sense.

I see the the original posters point, but you DO realize that all automotive wheels are made by very few companies right? As in, there is no Toyota wheel, there is a wheel made for a Toyota application.

first of all, id like to see that lol. and if you have a reason for a diffuser, no you arent. however i dont see a reason in putting a diffuser on a stock motor miata.

you gonna buy that brake master cylinder or not? lol

but what if the wheels are larger/wider and allow for a more aggressive tire than your stock wheels. how would that be any different.

Its hard to say that crossing brand lines is wrong because most of these companies are owned by the same people. Bentley's and Lambo's have a lot of Audi/ VW parts in them.
ford/mazda, porsche/vw and so on. thats not posing to me. My thing is do whatever you do tastefully. My new Merkur Scorpio has a 5x112 bolt pattern and I might be putting some AMG Rollers on it. that won't make it a Benz but it will make it tight to ME.

larger/wider wheels for a better tire = performance = idc what it is. if it makes it faster, it can stay.

but as far as crossing brand lines, if you leave the benz centercaps on you will look like an idiot. that makes a car look really ghetto and cheap.

It's not always about performance, some cars just arent fast, so they might as well look good.

vw's can pull it off though because they don't poke ridiculously.
Umm, I can just tell that guy in the first picture is disgusted by those wheels.
