    Default Internal Wastegate Question

I will first apologize for such a newb question in hopes that I dont get flammed for this one.

I just pulled a Mitsubishi turbo (TD04HL-15t/5cm2) out of a 2002 Saab 93t, and I'm trying to find out what the internal wastegate is set to. Also, would it be more benificial for me (if possible) to somehow convert the turbo to an external wastegate?

I have looked everywhere and even called Jim Ellis Saab for the answer, but no luck.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks IA

Hmm...would there be a way for me to lower it with the internal wastegate?

Yeah, I just went to the Saab forms and it said that the wastegate was set to 0.45bar. If I'm correct, that's roughly 7-8 lbs?

.45 bar is appox 6.5 psi. after flowing through piping and fmic you'll probably see 5-6 psi.

to convert to external wastegate, just don't hook up the vacuum line to the internal one and hook it up to the one you wanna use.

Thanks to to everyone that helped out with my questions. I've decided to scrap that turbo and start fresh with a new setup.
