Just out of curiousity, which honda SOHC engine responds best to low levels of boost? 8-9psi? With out any building what so ever, on a stock motor with an alluminum head gasket.

how does it handle it? Is it worth it, and would it be reliable enough for a DD?
How would the gas millage suffer as a result?
What about a Z6 block with a Y8 Head?
really I am just trying to see if the civic has DD potential and still hold its wieght agianst some of the more meaty four bangers.
Not Y8 but a full D16Z6 all the way!!! Just stay under 250whp for a RELIABLE DD D-series. Trust me I know! I made [email protected] and 315whp@18psi on a STOCK cam on my FULLY built D16Z6 before she went boom![]()
Beat a 450whp GT mustang(on W.G;14.75psi) a new Lotus Elise on W.G(by 4 car lengths!!!!! in third gear alone) a 2007 600rr on 18psi, a 2007 M3(modded) on W.G by 3 lengths and a Porsche Carrera on W.G by 5 lengths but it wasn't a turbo carrera.
This was done in my 92 Vx hatch and for now going Ls/Vtec turbo and then FULLY built K20a2 turbo!!!

Allmotor K EK Hatch Coming Soon.....
single cam f series. nice iron sleeves, make 250ish at 10psi with same torque
The EMPIRE
Yeah i would definitly have to say F series motors. very tourqey
F22 FTW
Hybridaccord

if you're wanting to stick with a d-series you already have then any would be fine for 8-9psi on most turbos. the z6 with a y8 intake manifold would be better if that's what you have.

z6 . . . but thats just me
f22 all-day
N/A>>><<<BOOST
f series but if you wanna stick d series. the z6 with a y8 manifold.
Its interesting how everyone thinks the Accord is a piece of crap but then it is the best motor option to boost...
well they said SOHC's only lol, if they said any motor most would probably say h22 or h23Originally Posted by WhiteAccord

Nay not even the H22 or H23 makes great power with just a slap on turbo kit.Originally Posted by 1siccEJ2
Best motor, stock would be the F series.
But then if its any motor, 2JZ.
but it comes with said motorOriginally Posted by The Youngn
H series on stock blocks suck for boost. 5psi on stock block at best because of the FRM sleevs. thats good for about 5psi MAYBE
F series > all. My buddies boosted SOHC F22 was good for 10psi DAILY, about 220hp and 290tq on a good tunePlus gas mileage didnt suffer much unless he was in boost all the time
D series and they are really cheap to pick up if you blow it
You know better; next time will be a ban.
actally y8 blows or the head anyways from what i have heard. get a d16y7 block and put a z6 or zc head on it then boost
You know better; next time will be a ban.
the D16Z6 or the JDM D15B are the BEST to boost...the Y8 isn't that good to boost because of the oil pump...
D15b... Im on my third, Ive blown two of them up. At 10 PSI. Im currently. Building a D16a6 Block with a Z6 Head. Ihave heard that the A6 bottom ends are stronger. We will see.Originally Posted by TopNotchEG9
I have heard alot of good things on the A6. Z6 are good but. Im going to try somethin diff.
My choice is the y8
ZC all the way with a D16y8 intake manifold!

z6 ftw. imo.
f22 may be good, but in a very heavy car, it will be pwnt by a turbo d in a hatch. stock vs stock.
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
better check that. 5th gen body doesnt weigh as much as you think. Power and torque that a turbo on this block puts out defninitly helps the power/weight ratio. curb weight on this thing is 2800 and change w/ a driver. and i plan on stripping the interior and replacing the fronts with some brides or recaros. The hatch may be about 2000. NE ways lemme finish my setup and you find someone i can run. boosted F series accords are ALOT faster than you thinkOriginally Posted by Halfwit
good deal. no drama.Originally Posted by blank cd

f series, d series any way you choose the **** is going to be ridin!!!!!
duh... cmon mang.. use common sense.
i like mah new sig. looks dangerous :-D
the f series codes, how do they code, what would the code for the vtec block be, and what would the code for the non-vtec be?
f22b1 is vtec, b2 is non vtec
Can any body link me to a how to write up on installing a turbo kit on a Y8, and maybe some tips on what would be the best cost effective items to use in a build.
Cause I have a y8 but it needs a rebuild anyway, so I figure I might as well rebuild it for turbo.
