    Default D16y8 All Motor

Ok so i just want a little more kick out of the daily driver. I got a 99 civic ex with 80k on the motor. What would be the best bang for the buck to get a couple more horses out of this little beast? I was looking for a jackson racing supercharger...but then idk, i wanna keep her ok so she lasts another 200k. So what would help besides I,H,E ? LMK thanks

You get more HP out of a turbo than a SC. Plus a SC stayes on all the time = less MPG. Now a turbo shit fun as hell.

i don't think you need 3k for turbo on a single cam. i'm pretty sure my friend can turbo your car for cheap. he has pretty much everything too, except for a waste gate i think. if you wanna go turbo i can find out how much he'll do it for...i dont think its over 2k. not quite sure but if you do want to, then let me know.

he's right...they're not that bad. but you would be paying more for a swap but then you probably wouldn't even get as much power if you were gonna turbo it.

Too much money for all motor D in my opinion...

If you do forced induction, I'd run turbo instead of supercharger. New vs new, a sc would probably cost more too... a used sc is fairly cheap, but I'd still run turbo. Want your motor to last long, run low boost and get it tuned. A y8 bottom isn't so great anyways, so it'll probably go out on ya with any route.

D-Series FTL. I'm thinking that bottom end would only be reliable around 200 WHP or so

Thats not true my homeboy that beat you back in the day with the turbo single Ek was 247whp and it ran good, until he freaking decided to turn the boost up, thats the only problem with turbo you always want more power, but if ya y8 has decent mileage i'll run good, trust me you'll like it

I know right D16y8 is the way to go. People think that you need to build it up.... just run 8 pounds and get it tuned ull be fine. Just dont turn that shit up.

Oh believe me, I loved the d. I made 234/179 with my y8 and I was pullin s2k's until my stock clutch started to slip. The bottom end lasted me around 2 years. Its a grand to build the bottom end if you can do everything yourself.

it was completely stock with a pieced together turbo kit. The turbo kit i pieced together was pretty ghetto and cheap. The only thing I had "expensive" was the turbo, intrcoler and bov, which was a turbonetics t3, fmic off honda-tech and an hks ssq; everything else was the ebay parts everyone is telling you not to get. I personally never had a problem with them, but i guess there's always that one that gets lucky. I also ran the hack for awhile then went with uberdata.

You should probably do most of the building and all that crap before you put in the car. Makes it so much easier.

jackson racing supercharger is a waste of money, get the vortec, check out the numbers a stock GSR gets off it and check out the numbers the jacksonracing supercharger gets, vortec makes more power

why dont you get off vortechs nuts? they paying you?

Vortech SUCKS. They are cool for HIGH RPM, they SUCK for STREET CARS.

Go read about this thing called AREA UNDER THE CURVE.

If you want to play this game, TURBO is better than both, more tq, more hp, almost as responsive.

JRSC sucks on single cams, I had one on my y7, and was getting stomped by the same car with a B16. Turbo is definately the way to go. Get you a turbo kit and go see Scotty.
