Evo 8 and Evo 9 trannies do have different ratio's... most specifically the 1st on an IX is stronger and VERY slightly longer (not enough to really care)... and the 4th on an VIII is a bit taller. The 5th on the IX's have a different input shaft and several later production VIII's have variants of the 5th input shaft. There's a lot more to than too when it comes to just trannies... I know all this from talking to Jon Ripple for half an hour. That guy's a genius.
Evo VII is a retarded idea. We live in the USA... but then again, you have pockets deep enough to make the Grand Canyon jealous.
Buy my Evo and run the car on WG pressure, 87 oct, and pull out all the timing... you might make the 450whp goal you want then... otherwise, I'd get an Evo IX SE... they look the nicest stock and you can fart on an IX and make 400whp.

Actually, an evo 7 is not a retarded idea, if you can deal with the emissions. They're not that expensive, and you could probably get one for about the same price that USDM versions are going for, at least the newer ones. I am no evo expert, by all means, but I know that the 7 is a bad mf. Even the seat bolsters are narrower for tiny japanese asses![]()
