Default Lookin to purchase a GS300

IM in the market for another car, the gs300 has caught my eye. ive been lookin at the 1st gen models. roomy, 4doors and has a little aftermarket, still i just wanted something alittle more grown up...tired of these little cars..lol, i found a few anything i should look out for? how are the trannies? i know the 2jz is a great motor, and really reliable, so im not worried about that. Anything i should pay special attention to, all the ones ive found are int he 120-130k mileage range.. any info would help.

Got your PM. Here is our first generation forum on Clublexus.

We also have a couple first gens on www.seloc.net

By 1996 the car was a great car. It added a 5 speed auto that year so 0-60 dropped a second to about 8 seconds. 2JZ is the engine. Trannies hold up fine, they are very reliable, from an electronic standpoint, the electrolumiscent gauges sometimes dim or burnout. Also check for leather wear and I recommend taking it to a Hennessy Lexus of Gwinnett for them to do a diagnostic check.

120k on a Lexus is nothing, just warming up. Just make sure at LEAST oil changes were done every 5k miles. Also at 120k, if a timing belt has not been changed, it may be time for it.

Also check the seals by the front door, they were popular cars back in the 90s and there are a few stolen ones around.

Aristo! Love those cars. I would not flinch at 120-130K at all.

i went and checked one out it was a 96 with 80k, and they wanted 13k for it..its worth it but i cant see myself spending that much on a 96.

i've always liked the looks of the gs, especially black ones when modded. i had one as loaner car over the summer, it was nice but just felt too big for me.

dont worry about miles, as long as they are serviced they should last at least till 300k.
