    Now I'm not very educated in VWs, but his doesn't look like the regular VR6 to me.
    One of those (top) is a 2.8L 24v VR6 while the other one is a 2.8L 12v VR6 turbo. The top is just missing the cover.

    K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.
