chouston should at least go buy the wheels/tires and the CAI for the car. Wouldn't hurt for him to go ahead and buy the Kirkey seat for use at the track also, if Evil Goat still has it. chouston is going to need some weight reduction.
"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting." - Steve McQueen
^^^ There you go, chouston. Go and get it. You can explain to your girl that the seat and harness is a safety device, so that you can be certain to come home to her in one piece....
"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting." - Steve McQueen
I was already going to do weight reduction. I took that big bar out in the trunk that protects the gas tank. I am goin to take the rear and front passenger seats out. Goin to get cai in a few days also, plan on run street tires for the first time to test my skills.
Nitrous 3Valve Mustang GT
i would leave that bar in....it's only 4 bolts you can remove at the track if you want
word of advice on the cai....if you're getting it from summit at least....
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-23069/ $219
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KNN-57-3044/ $294
not everyone knows that trick flow specialties owns K&N (or vice versa)....buy the TFS cai, it's the exact same thing from K&N, in fact when I bought mine my tube had the K&N decal on it and came with a K&N filter....and I saved about $70....even if the tube doesn't have K&N it's definitely made in the same plant from the same mold and it will come with a K&N filter...it'll just all come in a TFS box like they made it
I just want to point out though that the stocker is not a bad unit, it has a barely used K&N drop in it if the dealer left it alone and I made over 500 to the wheels with the stocker and K&N drop in![]()
Yea it still has the k &n drop in. It looks brand new and that's good to know about the CAI, save a lil money
Nitrous 3Valve Mustang GT
chouston,
x2 on leaving the bar in - be safe, I'd rather you not race if you aren't going to be safe.
Now that Evil Goat has informed us, save your money on the CAI - you will just be giving it to me anyway.
You are going to take out your seats? Gut your DD into a race car? WOW, that is pretty desperate. I'm planning to leave my seats in, and my subwoofer. I might even have my A/C on while I walk away from you.
Is your car that weak that you can't even carry a passenger? WOW.
"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting." - Steve McQueen
Your useless attempt at reverse pyschology at me not wanting to take some weight out of the car is ridiculous lol.....
Nitrous 3Valve Mustang GT
No, please take it out - that way you will look even more ridiculous when your gutted out and built race car gets drug down the track in front of everyone by a full weight, full interior, mostly stock, almost 20 year old Mustang.....
EVERYONE is going to be laughing about it!
If for some crazy reason you actually did win, everyone will say that of course you should, as you brought a gutted racecar to run against an old stock Mustang..... you will never get any respect from anyone..... you've already lost the race, regardless of the outcome. Now all that is left is for you to lose your money to me....
"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting." - Steve McQueen
Evil Goat - Please tell me that chouston already bought the nitrous kit from you. I'm hoping that he puts the car back to the state that you had it in.
I have a question about your old car - is the GTO caged? If not, how did you brace the Kirkey in there? Also, how many punds did the seats weigh in the car? Did you see an improvement in your ET from removing it? The reason that I am asking is that I tried it on another car of mine, and couldn't see an improvement at all in my times (maybe a tenth at most). Now, on one of my road race cars, every pound counted, as the lateral force on the tires was very important.
chouston - DO NOT let the wheels and tires get sold out from under you. Go get them now - and anything else he has that you can come up with the money for. You can thank me later for pushing you on this.

Don't worry my friend everything is coming together......
Nitrous 3Valve Mustang GT
Have you read this? You might get some weight reduction ideas from it.
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/pontia...ght-gto-2.html
A reason that I mention the wheels and tires is because another friend of mine is interested in them also - and has a lot of the money saved up already. If you don't get them, then I will have to change my setup, so that our race can remain fair. I don't have time to do multiple setups with different tires. SO GO GET THOSE WHEELS AND TIRES NOW!

Yea man I live on ls1 tech just learning shit just like I did with my mustang. That's a good write up. I'm not gutting my car to the extreme. Just bolton crap that's easy to remove hence just the seats.

Good looking out Vert

On a side note... Holy shit.
Back seats (both pieces): 45 lbs.
Front Passenger seat (with bracket): 65 lbs.
You would be dumb NOT to take those out.
chouston, in case you haven't realized yet - I NEED you to get those wheels and tires. I just went out and traded my Draglights for a set of Weld Pro-Stars that look just like Evil Goat's wheels. Then I went and bought a userd set of MT 26x10s - just like what he has on those. I am about to go get the front runners also. I want to make certain that you have no excuses as to why you lost. If you are running on street tires, then I would have wasted that money, plus the time of working with them. Go get those wheels and tires!
"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting." - Steve McQueen
A cage was the next thing on the list...i bought the seat on the way home from vacation at summit since I was passing by, got the harness from Jimmy, and we were going to do a cage over the winter...so the seat was never installed, nor was the harness.
the nitrous kit was sold a local 240sx owner and the cai was sold to some guy in NY
and I'm just sayin.....I spent $1158 unmounted on the wheels....first $650 gets 'em
p.s. http://www.ls1gto.com <--------------everything you need to know....all of the 9 second guys post regularly in the drag racing forum, Jan with the black auto GTO running 9's, built by Vengeance, is a regular poster there as well
and yes removing the seats alone couuld save a tenth...i went 11.5's on full interior, i removed the gas tank brace, the skid plate, pass seat, and rear seat and went 11.3's
fatass...

hey no worries here, everybody makes mistakes....... example:you hit your cd player on your incar pass, you break a stage 5 axle without moving 2 feet, you about melted a plug one of those nights on the 200shot......the list goes on
I just happen to miss a gear the ONLY incar video we took. Wait till i go back i will have 2352456 incar videos of me NOT missing a gear![]()

Ok, thanks for that feedback. I knew the Kirkey mounts to the crossbar, and was trying to figure out how I could safely mount one in my foxbody at the track - I'm not putting a cage in the car. Thinking about making my own crossbar like some of the brace/harness bars that I have seen at RA for road cars.
So, with all that work, chouston might be able to claim 2 tenths back - that might be worth it then, especially since you have sold the nitrous kit, and I'm guessing that he is planning to try to take me down with all motor. I can't let that happen - I'd never hear the end of it.
