When was it made? For those who dont know, Kevlar deteriorates. something like 3-5 years i think.

It will not have an expiration date but it will have the date of manufacture on the info tag. The typical shelf life for vests to be considered "safe" is about 4 years.

you need to open up the plate carrier, the date should be on the actual kevlar vest inside the carrier. there is a small zipper on the bottow of the vest carrier, it's also good to wash the carrier from time to time. I wash mine 4 or 5 times a year. vest are consider good for 5 years.

i thought it was illegal to have a bullet proof vest unless you were law enforcement? i could be wrong but i have heard that before.

That video is saying if you wear it constantly and all the time, the straps will sag and leave some areas exposed...Also sweat breaks down the kevlar

"If they are actually worn on a daily basis the moisture from sweating plus the friction of layers rubbing against each other can actually degrade them.

A vest thats not been worn on regular basis doesn't matter on age though,."

"Woven Kevlar (aramid) vests have no defined shelf life and have been proven to be effective even after 15+ years. Some of the laminated (Zylon/Spectra, etc.) vests are no good and start to delaminate soon after they start being used"

Would you trust your life to test that theory? Everything I have heard and read up on says 3-5 even with minimal use.

As for legality with possession of a bullet proof vest, it is perfectly legal to possess and wear body armor when used in a law abiding manner. However, if used during the commission of a crime you face enhanced charges. I will also add that a previous felony conviction will warrant the buying and selling of body armor a felony. Think of it as buying a firearm.

I wouldnt trust my life to any bulletproof vest unless it had ceramic inserts, even then, anything larger than a .38 will go through it, and even then, if someone wanted me dead they could just shoot me in the head...so...idk
