I've never blew a sub before. That shit sucks.:( I could understaind it going at full volume but I was a half and boom(not really a boom just a poping cracking noise) I was running 1 Kicker L5 12" and a Kicker amp. I got it used for $90 so not out to much I guess.
I guess its time to upgrade to the Kicker L7 12" now.

Do you have the loudness on the radio on?
Did you set the gain by ear or usin a digital muiltmeter or o-scope?
What enclosure are you running?
Running a bass knob?
ive seen people blow w7, brahama, L7 easly like it was a a pyramid super blue do to incorrect gain input

NOT trying to be an jerk, but who uses an o-scope to set gains? Just wondering what people (or shops) use that tool on a daily basis to set gains.
A sub can blow for any number of reasons...maybe is was blown before you got it, and you didnt notice...or maybe is was on its way out, and you just finished it off....

o-scopes are the gheyness...too complicated and takes too long to set IMO. plus if you cant set gains by ear and cant "feel" where they should be...

anyone can set it by ear but that doesnt mean that its correct. i normally just use a meter but on some cases i do use an o-scope ive been using it for year so its easy to me. in most cases you will set the gain higher if you go by ear. I just like it get it as close to perfect as possiable, but i guess im wrong for that or something. JUST CAUSE THEY MIGHT TAKE LONGER DOESNT MEAN using a scope is bad or a meter.

I once blew a sub at extremely low volume b/c of a poor radio signal

The gains in my car were set correctly....I promise!!
I think its great you use an o-scope....it is just not an item you see often. If they (the shops) do have one, finding someone to use it (correctly) is near impossible. Finding someone with the proper time to set it up and use it is even harder....
