right now i have a canon rebel xt. i got it back in may and probably has around 5k shutter accusations on it. i love it and it takes great pics but the problem is i want more. i am in school and minoring in photography and i want more of a "photography" camera. ive seen more people with the xt's that know nothing about photography and just get them since they take alright pictures. like my buddy said "soccer moms have XT's" which i think is true. well he works at a camera store and can get a discount and there is also some great deals going on until sunday. he can get me a 20D for fairly cheap and i am really considering trying my hardest to get it. i have my xt for sale now but doesnt look like anyone will be buying it before sunday. just wanted to know if i should try as hard as i could and get that 20D or just stick with what i have now?

20d is a much easier camera to use. Mine is going for $750 in the store!
Unless your prepared to spend big dollars people are going to have your camera. 5d is where you are going to start getting away from that problem. Go Canon,
ignore all the Nikon nut swingers on this board.

if u want more, i dont think the body should be a problem. especially an xt.
i would save that money and buy a few lenses instead.

the camera is bad ass if you know how to use it

Im upgrading because hte rebel has too much NOISE at high iso in low light conditions for my taste.
Your camera is only as good as your glass

The nikko shots were on a shitty 55-200 on manual focus becasue hte auto is broke, you can tell it was taken with a bad lens (or i can)
I just ordered a 70-200 f/4l adn its a huge difference

what setup (lenses filters etc ) do you haev now that you think isnt good enough?

I never said this was a soccer mom's camera and I never said i didnt like it or it wasn't good enough. i love the camera, a friend just told me better things about the 20D, thats why i was thinking about buying one. i dont much right now, just the 18-55 lens it came with and a canon 70-300 ef lens i use for shows. i do know that the 20D is much easier to use, the XT i barely know about anything, maybe i should read up on it more.

Honestly you need to learn more about the camera than taking someones word for it or thinking that another body will make your shots look more professional. Good glass will make your shot, just have to learn how to set the camera for the conditions you have. The best advice I was ever told was camera bodies are disposable but glass last forever.

I shoot with a XT now and will be upgrading soon not because the body is not suited for my style of shooting but I simply have about worn it out. Like Joey said, "everyone will have the XT, XTi, 20D, and 30D because they are more consumer grade. The 5D is when it changes."
