If you hook me up I might boost my spec:D . BTW give me a call today when you have time. (404)444-9625.

Currently boost is the only way to get respectable power out of the QR25 motor...........but if a few things work out over the next 6 months and a few things I have planned actually work it's going to be a new day for the motor.

Through an interesting set of events, the great opportunity to design and prototype this kit came up. Needless to say I didn't turn it down.

I should start fabbing/fine tuning the prototype piping over the next couple of weeks to work with the parts we're going to use. The bad thing is I'll be boostless waiting on production prototype parts to get back to me for fittment checks. If they're good they're be some testing and tuning, a little this, a little that, a final approval stamp, a production run, and it'll be on the market. <-----short version

The kit is going to run a Turbonetics T3/T4 5 bolt turbo, Turbonetics Evolution wastegate, most likely an HKS SSQ blow off valve, maybe a Turbonetics Raptor BOV, cast manifold, polished mandrel bent 2.5" aluminum intercooler piping, A Treadstone TR8 intercooler (Core Size, 7.8" X 22" X 3.5", 28" overall), 2.5" polished stainless recirced downpipe, larger injectors and, an SAFC for tuning. We're aming for 8PSI, which will be about 270-280ish WHP and 260-270ish WTQ. The price, don't know yet, but around $3000 +/-.

On a side note fitting the kit up to a 2.5 Altima would only require a redesigned IC piping and downpipe. If there is enough interest I might push to get an Altima kit on the market after the Spec kit comes out.

Altimas?! Did you say Altimas!

FUCK YEAH! :goodjob::burnout:

It's a Altima nevertheless...

Ah no sense in only boosting 8 psi get yourself a multi layered steel head gasket and tune it to at least 10 psi for a daily driver. You can finally see 300whp if you do that. But Turbonetics has a kit out already and you don't need a prototype really. Good luck on you boosting

Big J

Turbonetics kit is $5797.93 retail from Turbonetics web site......................<---that's robbery

What there isn't for this car is an affordable setup, and 8PSI is a safe aim for production, it could be marketed at 20 PSI but shit would blow up, so 8 PSI makes sense from a business perspective. The components in the kit will be good for 400+ WHP, but that's up to the customer. Testing and marketing will be done at 8PSI, which should yeild about 270-280 WHP and 260-270 WTQ and come in around $3,000 +/-.

The prototype is crutial. It has to be made using the components that will be included in the kit, turbonetics components, there's no way around that. What I have on my car is good enough for what it cost me to make the whole set up, $1052. The downpipe needs to be totaly redone, and the first pipe off of the intercooler needs slight tweaking before I'd be happy with anything being produced.

IC piping to fit the 3.5 x 7.8 x 22 core intercooler, IC mounting brackets, done, getting shipped out to Treadstone this week.

My car's been too bastardized to use to produce an installation manual. The kit should retail for $2999, and I can probably get you a lower price and discounted installation if I can use your car for pics and to write and develop an installation manual. Anyone interested in getting a hook up for their Spec V?

Big J

The group buy price on this kit is going to be around $2600 (estimate, subject to change, most likely not) around late April/May

Turbonetics t3/t4 .63 ar turbo 50 trim good for 350 + whp, turbonetics wastegate, hks ssq bov, 22x7.8x3.5" core treadstone intercooler, mandrel bent 2.5" aluminum IC piping, 2.5" stainless downpipe w/ recirc wastegate, AN fitting oil oil feed and drain lines, t-bolt clamps, grade A silicone couplers, 440cc injectors (most likely), I'm sure there are a lot of things I'm forgetting. 8PSI power output should be around 260-280 whp and 260-280 wtq. :)

I'll be doing installs and tuning at the shop I work at.

I'll be looking for someone with an 02-03 Spec in a month or so. I need to test fit the piping to see if it'll clear the fog lights on the 02-03. Come hang out for a day, I'll buy you lunch and do a free short shifter mod on your car. Read up on short shifter here (http://www.importatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98702)

and a free mod.......... all they have to do is drive to the shop, let me pull the front bumper, and their intake (while intake is off free short shifter mod), then see if the piping will clear the fog light............... tweak the piping a little if need be, cars goes back together, get some lunch....... that's the best I can do, lunch and a free mod, I'm still a poor MF'r

the silver on is pushing 8 PSI and like 275 whp
and few random ones

bulit spec gt35r 25psi vs. spec 9psi (http://restylersinc.com/robbie2883/t3specvs35rspec.wmv)

NA spec vs. spec @ 7 psi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u89rVuIlWtg)

I was thinking about it, and there are probably only 100-200 turbo spec v's in the world.

Question, Treadstone Turbo it's just for Spec V or SE-R as well?

Simply curious.

Big J

same motor and chassis, the main diffrence is the 6 speed transmission and limited slip differential, and the suspension, mainly the spring rate. But it'll work for either, even a auto.

The pics are of the prototype done for MEASUREMENTS, not looks or function

I'm going to post up these pics of the prototype downpipe because I should have a production prototype back in about a week. That way you guys have an idea of how the downpipe in the kit will be and will be able to see the transformation from prototype to production quality.

It took me about 12 hours to design and fabricate this pipe (that includes redoing it twice, when there are going to be 50 made and put on a sfelf to be sold, eventually more, you want to make sure it's absolutly right, not just good enough) I hope you like it. I can't wait to see it in polished stainless steel and TIG welded. (use your imagination)

(ch@dbee's corvette killing SRT-4 has one of my pipes/downpipes on it............... :goodjob:)

So long as I get a downpipe back next week you guys should see some dynos sometime between the 20-31st. I'll be dynoing at 5, 8, and 10 psi, butterfly valves removed, 2.5" exhaust AND NO OTHER MODS, no BSR, no light weight flywheel, no cams, basicly a stock block (maybe I won't post the numbers here :ninja:, not that they'd be hard to find) . The 31st is my birthday BTW, I'll be ......... oh god, 28.

Ok I finally went to the dyno, so much for sleeper after posting these:

these were the first two runs at 6psi so the motor was fairly cool, the best numbers I've ever seen at such low boost :)

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d157/big_j_1979/6PSI.jpg

the next two runs I did were at 9-9.5 psi, I added some fuel after the first pull to get it under 12:1
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d157/big_j_1979/high.jpg

.....so after adding fuel to run 9-9.5 psi I did this pull at 7.5-8 and the AFR's were rich, around 11ish

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d157/big_j_1979/8psirich.jpg

so after pulling a little fuel between runs I ended up with this graph and a better AFR, but at this point, after 7 pulls, I'm sure heat soak was taking it's toll even though the numbers were better.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d157/big_j_1979/8psi12ish.jpg

It's suprising what the diffrence between 6psi and 10psi feels like for only being 33 whp and 32 WTQ.
