so at the moment i'm running around open downpipe... my 240 is pretty loud.
and i also get home really late at night (2-3am) so i'm pretty sure the noise pisses them off BUT thats not what they are complaining about... 3 called the forsyth county sheriffs office (rear rednecks with guns and a badge) and said i go too fast through the nieghborhood... yet i do the speedlimit, unless my speedo is that far off.

i guess my car just sounds faster than it is :thinking: :dunno:

i can't wait for the :police: to come knock on my door :bump:

I would be careful the forsyth county cops are assholes most of the time...

The other thing I would be careful of is if to many people call they will come sit outside your house and listen and then tell you get go get emissions on it and\or write a ditrubing the peace ticket...

i try to be as queit as possbile at night, i roll through coasting half the time.
but during the day i accelerate at a reasonable rate either 1st or 2nd out of the neighborhood..

and the cops know me because i worked with them for 3+ years... most of them dont give me shit but a few of the noobs do

I got pulled coasting down a hill at about 60. He got me on the radar coming the other way did a 3 point turn on a double yellow, almost hitting 3 other cars, and then was yelling at me over his loud speaker to pull over. In the spot I was at the only place to pull over was a 8 foot deep trench on the side of the road. So I drove up to the next lil strip mall thing and pulled over. He asked why didnt you stop when I told you to. 'Excuse me sir, it wouldnt have been safe for either one of us to be stopped in the middle of the road' was my response. He face was all red and he was being pissed off cas he couldnt get me for anything else but speeding.

I am glad the HEAT units havent figured out where I live yet :devil:

Well right now I live on the forsyth\hall county line and I have a cumming phone number and a gainesville address. I am moving just across bowling bridge on the hall county side which is ~5 miles down the road which is about 2 mins if traffic is moving good...so yes and no...lol

People bitch about me in my neighborhood. I am the only one with a modified car and I think it's the exhaust and intake that throw them off. I never go over 30 ever(speed limits 25.) Well every now and then I get those gay ass hand motions trying to tell me to slow down. And yesterday I saw someone jump off the street to the grass. I do not drive wrecklessly though.

Anyhow my new neighborhood I just moved into on Lake Oconee has a speed limit of 35 and there are some tight turns, and no risks of little kids being in my way, just deer. So I think it will be a lot better.

Good luck with your situation, your open downpipe may be the source of this problem, not your driving. IMO.

i got stop (Henry county) coming in my subdivison for doing 29 in a 25 and the cop said he could hear me a mile away so i was like watever cuz hes told me before that my exaust too loud and was illegal and wrote me a ticket when i first got it. i had to get a bunch of info from the manufacture saying it's 50 state leagal and had to fight them about the ticket. So the first time he stopped me he ask to hear how loud it was. So i start the car and rev it twice to like 3 Grand. so he decides to bend over to get a better listen and i see him do so in my mirror, since he was being a dick about the whole situation i decided to be one too and reved it to red line lol. he got so pissed haha. He ended up letting me go with a warning.

i fougt mine by just taking the documents i got from the manufacture to court with me, but since ur runnin and open pipe there gonna need that device and if u passed ur emissions a few weeks ago u can just show them that. i always do the speed limit in my neighborhood but people in me sudivison do the same with the hand waving and crap i just beep the horn and wave. My neighbors hate me they always call the cops and complain to the homeowners association meeting. i have even had a guy at the last meeting say i was :screwy: and was a danger to everyone on the road and myself but i just ignor them. oh im the only moded car in my neighborhood too.

I totally feel you on this. I have a neighbor that calls the cops on me for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. All of the neighbors hate her. I'm friends with ALL of my other neighbors...

She calls the cops any time there are more than about 3 cars in my driveway, or if we have to park a car or two in the culdesac. She called once when one of my cars was in the culdesac and they had it towed because it doesn't have a tag (since i don't drive it). Every time i have people over she calls them. She's called about my exhaust and the cops have pulled me over for it outside my neighborhood, but just warned me. My exhaust IS loud but i dont speed through the neighborhood and it IS a legal exhaust (pretty sure besides the no cat thing).

So i feel ya...

Trying to figure out what i can do about it since i'm pretty much in the right here and have done' nothing wrong... Someone suggested calling the local PD and seeing how many times she's called complaints and file harassment charges against her or something...

same shit happened to me. when I asked the "Home owners association" woman how fast I was going she said, "we can just tell you're going to fast." then I said, "so if I throw a rock you can tell me how fast it's going?" then slammed my door in her face and finished my laundry :goodjob:

Worse yet, I'd be UBER pissed if I was sleeping minding my own business and someone woke me up with their exhaust note at 3 a.m. People do have kids. People do have jobs. To be honest, I'd probably wanna do more than just call the cops on you if you woke me up at 3 a.m. with your loud exhaust that YOU put on YOUR car and were driving around in.

I am getting silencers for my exhaust soon. Only reason I run no cats is because the only headers offered for the V6 tib with a cat are mad exspensive and always on back order for months at a time and I dont want to pay for someone to cut and weld cats onto my Y pipe. I do park my car on the street (its a Tib, its not going to get stolen) so its nots near houses when I crank up in the morning.

But still people accusing of us of speeding through the streets because our cars are loud is crazy but it will always happen, people have an opinion formed of the "street racers" and thats that.

As far as the noise level, imagine a harley... I know my car isn't nearly as loud as one of those and you can't call and complain about one of those unless they are just sittin there revin it or something...

I was on Briarcliff road once near Decatur Road and this old man practically flew off of the sidewalk screaming at me to slow down. Keep in mind this is a 4 lane road with a 35mph speed limit. The guy jumped into the road like he was shot from a cannon and he was jumping around like some voodoo witch doctor. I looked down at my speedometer and I was doing just under 45mph. What a fucking asshole. This was in my stock M3, so it wasn't because it had a loud exhaust. I still laugh every time I think about the way he jumped into the street.

I believe what Jaime meant was that you can accomplish the same gains (in some cases more) with a well tuned exhaust system. An open exhuast is not necesarily a better exhuast, just cheaper and easier. It has been proven on many different applications.

I remember one vid of a civic I believe that gained less than 1 hp when going from its full exhaust to a open exhaust, and actually lost some torque.

My neighbors are pretty cool about my car being loud. But there is a porsche carrera thats pretty loud a couple houses down from me, and a guy that lives across from me with a 60's mini cooper that is loud as hell and he has a WRX w/ a loud exhaust, a BB4 w/ a can thats about as loud as my car if not louder, and around 2k viper that is loud as well. So I guess they don't car anymore, or they just bitch about it in their own homes.
