TRICK UNIT?

The Detroit rapper is supposed to be signing with 50. The sad thing about this is that Christian Mathis AKA Trick Trick never wanted to sign a major deal in the first place. The only reason why he signed to Universal/Motown was because Jimmy Iovine wouldn't release Eminem to appear on Tricks single Welcome to Detroit if he wasn't signed to a major label. Talk about label politics people...then of course his album wasn't marketed and promoted and literally came and went without anyone really paying attention. But is G Unit the best choice for him when we see their marketing and promotions or rather lack of them.

Insurance Company Turns Their Back on 50 Cent

50 Cent's insurance company says it is not liable for any damages in a lawsuit based on a brawl allegedly involving the U.S. rapper last year. According to The New York Post, National Fire has claimed that the rapper, who is being sued by radio personality "Zxulu" Dunkerson, violated his insurance coverage by waiting more than a year to report the suit to the insurance company.

In the $10 million lawsuit, Dunkerson claimed that during a radio interview in Washington last year, a member of 50 Cent's entourage attacked him and stole his phone.

In addition to the alleged assault, supposedly brought about by an off color remark made by Dunkerson on, 50 Cent's G-Unit then released a song that insulted the radio DJ and the city of Washington. The song in question is the remix to The Game's "Hate It or Love It" which features 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo.

On the song, Game quips, "Ni**az betta get up outta mine /Fo' I creep and turn your projects into columbine/ And I'm rap's MVP /Don't make me remind y'all what happened to DC."

Eminem's Friend Proof to Release a New Album

An album by deceased Detroit rapper Proof (aka Deshaun Holton) will be released next year. The album, titled Time Will Tell, will feature 18 songs recorded before Proof's death earlier this year. The album will be released through Detroit-based label Iron Fist. Iron Fist exec, Cleveland Hurd says Proof was challenged by a friend to write an record an album in one day. The company also has plans to premiere a film exploring the recording process at Detroit's Star Southfield before releasing the album.

"The world was cheated. They never got to see this side of Proof," said Hurd. "It shows how serious Proof was about recording. As soon as he came in, he went to work and didn't stop until time was up," he added. Hurd says they started recording at midnight and never slowed down.

Proof was shot and killed at CCC Club on East 8 Mile Roadon April 11

R.I.P

THE GAME:

When was the last time you heard anyone chanting "G-Unot"? Turns out The Game is no longer interested in 'beefing' with G-Unit General 50 Cent. In an interview with Hot 97 FM radio personality, Angie Martinez, Game reportedly reached out to his nemesis, asking him to call into the station. "Just to talk and just to see where our heads are and see if maybe we can come to an even playing field respectfully to each other," said the 28-year old rapper. "I want to see if we can figure it out as grown-ups." While at the in-studio recording of his interview with Martinez (Game was banned from entering Hot 97 following a shootout incident in 2005), he also helped promote a contest that was obviously sponsored by arch-rival 50 Cent. Only time will tell if 50 is willing to accept Game's olive branch offer or not.

50 Cent Strikes Again

50 Cent has lashed out at Hollywood for double standards after seeing the poster for the new James Bond movie, "Casino Royale." The "Casino Royale" billboard shows 007 actor Daniel Craig toting a gun. "Get Rich Or Die Tryin' comes out and they want to protest because they see a gun in my hand but James Bond comes out or Mr & Mrs Smith will come out with guns and it's acceptable," 50 Cent lamented. 50 was alluding to the backlash he caught when the promotional poster for his "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" movie depicted the 30-year old rapper with a gun.

One version of the the billboards showed 50 Cent in a crucifixion pose with a gun in one hand and a microphone in the other. Despite the rapper's claims that the image was only intended to communicate his struggle to escape street life, Paramount Pictures pulled some of the ads.

"You can see any kind of gun there is to see on the covers of films. You can go in Blockbuster and see every gun that was ever made," said 50. "Let's not start with 50 Cent and stop with 50 Cent. Let's do it everywhere else and make it unacceptable period. I would gladly join the rest of entertainment if we get there."
