Well, its time for me to go get a valve adjustment tomorrow, but what I was wondering was is there a different spec if you have upgraded valvetrain? Ok....the specs are

Intake - 0.15-0.19 (0.006-0.007)
Exhaust - 0.17-0.21 (0.007-0.008)

I have skunk2 valvetrain, so basially there is no difference correct?

no it doesnt matter, but a valve adjustment must be done when the motor is STONE COLD. doing a valve adjustment on a warm or hot motor is pointless.

.007 on the intake
.008 on the exhaust is factory service limits.

a service manual will tell you how to adjust them

if you want to equate a VALVE ADJUSTMENT to assembling a head, then thats your judgement LOL.

10mm valve adjustment tool
19mm socket (for the crank pulley)
small flat head

these are the main items you'll be needing, but yeh, its harder to explain it than to just show someone.

You should have it done by an experiened professional. Overtightening will cause burnt exhaust valves and a pricey repair. I just did a burnt valve job on an 04' S2000 and it cost the guy $1500 total.

yeah ive never seen anyone do a bad valve adjustment. i mean, i have had guy install their own cams, and NOT do a valve adjustment, and then the car has no compression. simple fix.

Just make sure the car is cold, BONE COLD, and do the valve adjustment.

Metal expands and contracts under heat. especially aluminum

The service manual limits are based on a COLD MOTOR. WHen the motor heats up to operating temp, the number on the valve adjustment can grow as much as 10-15 thousandths.

so if you do a valve adjustment on a warm motor, when you THINK you have the right number, in reality its much tighter or loose when the motor cools down.

ok so what do u tighten them to when its cold?
