This is crazy - it happened right up the road from my house. I saw it yesterday trying to get home. There were like 15 police cars, the news chopper and everything. It was a mess. Poor girl.

Girl, 5, struck by SUV

Published on: 06/09/05
A 5-year-old girl was airlifted to a hospital after being struck by an SUV Wednesday near Snellville, police said.

At about 4:30 p.m., the girl and her two older brothers were walking on two-lane Grayson Highway toward her home in Falcon Ridge subdivision. One brother, 12, darted across the road where there was no intersection or crosswalk, said Officer Darren Moloney, Gwinnett police spokesman.

The 5-year-old followed, and was struck by a Honda SUV. The driver's name was not immediately released.

The injured girl was taken by helicopter to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Wednesday night, she was in pediatric intensive care in critical condition.

The driver was cooperating with police, Moloney said.

it was at 4:30 and it was there until about 7 - so you just missed it. They had it all blocked off.

And I don't see it as they guy left his sister behind - she was on the other side of the road with her other brother and she just bolted out and then the other brother went behind her - but he didn't get hit. He did pick her up off the road and put her to the side tho. Its a heartbreaking story - I feel for her parents.

why is it a heartbreaking story? They were walking on a road they shouldn't. Where were the parents, leaving little kids walk around like they are teenagers and shit.

It is sad but still, walking along a road like that he should have been holding his sisters hand to prevent something like this happening.

Hmm... I'm not sure who's reading the story wrong, yall or me, but according to the story, the older brother ran across the road, and then the sister tried to follow and I'm guessing here that she was a bit slower, and she got smacked. But ya, it sucks, but they definatly shouldn't of been in the road. Or atleast use the old bit of advice, look both ways before crossing.

sad it is....in my own opinion. and in todays society of work more, make less, my guess is that the parents were at work. or at home , since it's possible that the kids have made that trip on more than one occasion. but that's just my :2cents:
