i am looking for a new tv to get for christmas and i was wondering if anyone knew of a place (online OR a store) to get a nice one. it doesnt have to be plasma or 1082308123i or what not...i just want a good sized tv to put in a living room for some college kids and under $1000. 600-800 would actually be idealistic, but under 1000 would be good. i would prefer a flatscreen or some type of high def., but im down for about anything.

shorthand: best tv under 1000, prefer 600-800.

Hrmm i cant check the exact price atm but for that you can find a 42" samsung DLP projection. Its decent picture. good for sports. Issue is their known to have some issues with cooling fans going out, but otherwise good tv.

If you want a flat panel your prolly looking at a 42" ED Plasma, or your gonna have to go with a 32" LCD. Toshiba has a really good 32" its normally 999.99 you can find it for at least 900

I sell tv's for an electronics store, and the best set in that price range is sony's 34" xbr1 tube tv. It's the best looking tv on the market period. No plasma, LCD, or DLP can compare. you can usually find it for less than 1K.

I have a 42" sony hd flat screen. Brandsmarts has them now for $898.00. Really good picture for the money. I have had mine for almost two years now.

Dude check out costco. I have a 32 inch LCD with built in HD Tuner. Supports upto 1080i and it was only 699.99 with a year or 3 in home warranty on it.

go to costco to get your lcd...they have a great return policy. anything goes wrong or you don't like it you can return it at any time for a full refund...my friend returned his 10 year old tv for a full refund last week...no kidding. the panasonics are the best quality for the price. if you really want something cheap the vizio are the cheapest price and decent quality(under $1k). if it ever goes bad you can return it to costco...

never heard of brandsmart and we dont have a costco anywhere near here, so walmart is looking good. 37" widescreen lcd hdtv for 800. 1 yr warranty, sounds like a decent deal.

well all tv's come with a 1 year manfucaturers warranty but be careful. they wont replace the tv under manu's. If they deem it "non repairable" your gonna be SOL. and for a lcd type or plasma they pretty much are not repairable.

check on www.brandsmartusa.com (http://www.brandsmartusa.com)

They have really good deals. But as already said, if you get a LCD or Plasma spend the extra couple hundred on the best warranty since they are 99% unrepairable. Atleast you get it replaced that way.

yeah but make sure 100% it covers replacement of the tv.

Some warranty's are just a labor/parts extension vs a replacement one.

I've got a 32" Polaroid LCD that I got from Circuit City, it's under 1000 bucks. I have it in my dorm room, and it's great because it doesn't take up too much space.

nomater what size/type TV you get, make sure it's a SONY.

And I don't work for Sony or something .. but that's like the Mercedes of the TVs .. lol.. Those guys started making great tvs form back in the day, when they introduced the Trinitron screen. I've personally had a TV class at my first university about why that one was dominating the others ... but it's kinda hard to explain.
