Gonna party like it's 1966
It may be cold, dank and miserable outside but, eternal optimists that we are, there's a chink of light on the horizon.
That chink of light is the image of a Ford GT40 taking on a Ferrari 275 around the Le Mans track next year. Seriously.
Running on the morning of June 16, 2007, the Le Mans Legend battle will comprise 61 cars and see the return of the epic Ford versus Ferrari battles of the 1960s.
With the dates of cars eligible to race now covering 1956 to 1968, the classics of the 'Ferrari era' will be slugging it out once again.
On top of all that, there'll be AC Cobras, Maseratis and Jaguars all competing, as well as some more esoteric British entries including Morgan, MGB, Austin-Healey Sprite and Triumphs. They all raced originally, so they're entitled.
Some 230,000 spectators are expected for the 2007 Le Mans weekend and, sitting here in the gloom, we can almost feel the sunburn now.
