The interview will probably be on their website 2morrow though. But he was on the Russ Parr show in DC this morning and he basically said that he didn't mean what he said and that his anger pretty much got the best of him. Jeezy said the vibe was off when he came in the studio yesterday. He said that he took offense when Monie Love was saying that she believed Hip Hop Is Dead, and that's what Nas was saying the samething as she was. He took that as a direct shot at him and the rest of ATL b/c she was basically saying artists like him are the reasons hip hop is dead. So that made him say what he said without thinking 1st. He said there's no beef with Nas and apologized to Nas if he took it that way. He said if he was really beefing with Nas he would have said it again today, but yesterday he got caught up in the moment. He also said their isn't any diss tracks towards Nas, but he does feel that their are alot of older cats in the game hating on the south out of jealousy and just hatred.
Later, QD.

Yeah he apologized for what was said but still tries to play it out by saying older cats in the game are hating. . . NO they are stating a fact most rap/Hip-hop these days is about moey, hoes, grills, slinging or something that might pertain to real life, but doesn't help anyone in the struggle elevate them selves above it it just glorifies that stupid shit people do becuase they know someone got rich and made a deal off of it. Geezy will never amount to the artist that NAs is.
yezzzirrrrrr!! i mean the south turned the music world on it's ear with Goodie moB, outkast. then it dried up and fell into a stupor, which sad enough, is slow to change.
You are absolutoely correct. this is Hip-hop oldschool wu tang, Biggie, 2 Pac, Common, The fugees. THis is Hip hop. Now granted most new arteist will def. get gir;s shaking there asses in the club but that is it. it has no depth.
The artists don't determine what hip hop is, the consumers and the media do. I just came back from Vegas and if yall could see the influence the south has on hip hop out there its amazing.. and it isn't being shoved down their throats, they CHOOSE to listen to it and buy the records.
Want to blame someone for the way hip hop has gone, blame the consumers and the media but not the rappers. If Jay-Z or Jeezy decided they wanted to change up and rap like Common do you really think they would sell records like they do? No, and the next person who wants to rap about bs behind a good beat will step up.

jeezy is one of the top 3 southern rappers out right now (and im not even a big fan of southern artist), so i think he had all the right reason to react the way he did during that interview.....yeah nas been in the game for a minute, but who is he 2 say hip-hop is dead?

I hope you werent speaking lyrically, cuz there's a hell of a lot more than 2 southern rappers that are above Jeezy lyrically and got a better flow. Did you forget about Luda, T.I., UGK, Chamillionaire, Lil' Wayne, 8Ball & MJG, Three Six, Project Pat, shit even Joc and Lil' Scrappy got a better flow than Jeezy... Atleast he was man enough to apoligize which i give him props for. stating hip hop is dead is a matter of opinion in which everyone is entitled to. but no longer can you say the south is the reason for the state of hip hop, i mean chicken noodle soup cats is from harlem. read the article in the source magazine about how the videos of today's rappers particularly from the south look like old movies with black people dancin in the fields like good slaves trying to please their master. it's not the south's fault that most consumers of rap a little kids who idolize a lifestyle that they were never apart of. in the words of Common 'if i don't like it, i don't like it it don't mena that I'm hating. and a lot of bitch music came out of new york it was just squashed by biggie, nas, wu, gangstarr, black moon, tribe and others. we didn't want to hear that bubble gum shit but now that is all they want to listen to.

People are just jealous at the south because there running shit right now as far as mainstream goes. Truthfully i'm sick of about 90% of the bullshit that comes out the south, music in ATL was alot better back in the freaknik days..i was down with that old school south shit..
But there are alot of rappers that can't compare to southern rappers, it's different style, slang, beats, etc

True. It is opinion, but when it is a mass-felt opinion, you have to wonder. Ya know.

You can't blame the South for the continual downfall of rap, but it did lead it in this direction.
it's not the south's fault that most consumers of rap a little kids who idolize a lifestyle that they were never apart of.

As far as mainstream goes is right. But as far as talent and better lyrics and music, we all know underground/mixtape is the shit. Mainstream is where all the groupies and white folks who want to be down are at. These folks that buy the down South music shit are wanting it for the bass and beat. Not for what's important. The lyrics and what the person is saying. Of course that is what the South music is basically driven towards.
Truthfully i'm sick of about 90% of the bullshit that comes out the south, music in ATL was alot better back in the freaknik days..i was down with that old school south shit..

Oh I very much agree but still, Hip hop is not the same. either by the consumer or by the artist. Hip hop used to be hi hop and then someone started rapping about cars and money and hoes then everyone else did it to.
No matter I like new music and will listen to Jeezy, Yin yang twins, and the rest of the south, but Nas has just realesed a record lets see how his record sales go. I still feel that a real artist will make music about shit that means something and they will still sale records, if you do it to make money then whatever your just making money, if you do it becuase you are an artist then you will write what your soul tells you to write.

This is the best post in this thread. Everything else posted in this thread, is personal preference. It's just a big arguement of personal preference. There is no difference in this thread or a thread of someone arguing what is better, rap or country.
This is the exact samething as a parent arguing to their kid about music. Aren't parents always saying, "Why are you listening to that crap?! That's not music blah blah blah." Same shit. Personal preference....

Haha, nah. I didnt think nothing of Joc when "It's Goin Down" and "I Know You See It" came out, I actually couldn't stand him and I hated both of those tracks. Until my cousin had me listen to Do Ya Bad, and I DL'ed the CD and he's got some decent tracks on there. I like his verse on Dope Boy Magic, how he counts off 1-15 through each line of it, showed quite a bit of creativity. Hear Me Coming, he flows pretty good on that one too.

Don't have to wait, lol. I got it about 2 weeks ago and I was not really impressed all that much aside from a couple of tracks. On top of that, I didnt really hear any tracks on there that really caught my ear like his last album, cuz there were a few bangers on that one. But c'mon man, you can't honestly say that Chamillionaire and T.I. aren't way ahead of Jeezy lyrically hahaha. Or even anybody else on that list I put up.

alrite, they rep the south very well, but most of those albums are older albums, with the exception of release therapy and the carter 2....and i dont really respect the carter 2 too much cuz I had a ghost writer. The TI urban legend album was decent but not a classic, and Luda's album Word of Mouf was way better than release therapy

Dont get me wrong, his new album definatly aint better then his 1st album, but Chamillionaires album sound of revenge is not even close to Jeezy's new album. I bought Chamillionaires album last yr, and i tried to like it, it just didnt happen. Honestly the only song that caught my ear was Ridin Dirty, and that was a good 2-3 before he released it as a single

QUOTE]
i was referring to the quote by Tony that the consumers make the artist which inturn make the bullshit. the problem with rap/ hip hop is it is the biggest selling music genre right now supported by people who are infatuated with a lifestyle they see only in movies and videos and mimic to perfection. there are too many rappers not enough hip hop artist who truly love the art form. but if you received the art form via mtv or bet which was a watered down version meant for record sales and mass appeal what do you expect? u know i am waiting for your reply on this!

truth
if your gonna keep supporting shit music, they're gonna keep on making it.
and about Jeezy
(the interview>http://rapidshare.com/files/6515304/46705870_206447c7.mp3)
This is exactly what's wrong with Rap today! These new guys don't wanna listen! Jeezy never even let the lady get her point out. He just wanted to talk about him "doin' numbas" and "killin' it". (Jeezy sucks btw)
It's sad, but I just don't think these new guys can even comprehend the argument. I don't want to make it seem like its an education issue, but I don't think they are able to fathom what the reason is for all of Jay-Z and Nas' recent comments about the state of rap. It's almost like their argument is "If album's are selling, Hip hop is not dead!".
They aren't making the connection to the artistry/poetry side of rap and its downturn over the years, aside from a few artists who continue to push the limits of wordplay/lyrics and themes in their music.
Nomad!

Monie Love's explanation was right on point. Apparently the one trick pony that calls himself Young Cheesy, felt the sting of her comment. All of these cats are screaming the same song and some of them (i.e. Dem Franchise Boyz) over the same beat. If Cheesy couldn't make another song about selling drugs, we'd never hear from this dude again. I give him props for apologizing but, even in his apology (on the Russ Parr show) he managed to display his ignorance.
I just came back from Vegas and if yall could see the influence the south has on hip hop out there its amazing.. and it isn't being shoved down their throats, they CHOOSE to listen to it and buy the records.
I visited Vegas in October and the radio there was just like the radio in Atlanta & New York. Cramming the same crap down listeners throats & repeatedly telling them the shit they were being forced to eat actually tastes & smells good. The media is WITHOUT A DOUBT defining what "Hip-Hop" is. Not in a sense that the media is the authority of all things Hip-Hop but, in a sense where, if Greg Street or some other ass sucking on air personality, were to say D4L is hot, the majority of their listening audience will agree. The media is running things. This is why Clear Channel is trying to own as much of the market as possible. Thorough their media outlets, they know they can dictate what is or isn't "hot" & where $ will be spent. Unfortunately, the ignorant masses are far too willing to accept anything the media has to offer, even it if is as asinine as "Laffy Taffy" or "Chicken Noodle Soup".
