ok, yesterday i got pulled over for passing a bus by crossing the double yellow lines by a UGA cop on campus. it was at 11:00 pm at night and the lines were 50% visible because of student ads written in chalk on the street, and there were no reflectors, and also no "no passing" signs. the ticket is about $90 and i don't know how many points on my license.

should i pay the fine or contest in court? what are my chances? if i contest in court, i was planning to write in a written plea instead of driving back to athens only to plea not guilty and then have to schedule another trial.

*this is my first time being pulled over for ANYTHING.

sounds like you might have a case. espically since this is your 1st ticket. fight it, couldn't get that much worse.

Go to court, explain what happened but dont deny that you did something wrong. Just say you would not have done it had you known that they were double solid lines. Judge might be lineint with you.

1st ticket? Fight it, but dont do a plea of absentia, actually go to court.
