no it isnt... on a boosted KA compression should be at about 190 dunno bout SR's but ur compression doesnt sound right..

Black Mamba
12-07-2006, 09:32 PM
New SR20DET has about between 120 and 135 psi for new engine...
But this compression is reasonable...
Other 1 motor has 115,95,105,105
and other one had 105,65,60,95
I think the second one had worn piston ring or it has too much gap between the
cylinder and piston ring... the compression was no good....
Don't worry man...I know what to buy I know the compression...
I always check the compression before i buy motors~~~

Black Mamba
12-07-2006, 09:34 PM
Oh and plus that... SR20DET is Turbo engine... SO it should have low compression
Duh~!!! The compression for Turbo and Non-Turbo is different~!
And This car still runs... If you wanna test drive come to my work place
the car is ready to drive!!!

jta021
12-07-2006, 09:51 PM
ha, the compression should be higher than 135, even if was brand new.... mines stock internally and has like 163 all the way back. good luck with this one.....

Black Mamba
12-07-2006, 11:46 PM
lol..... i don't know where u got that red top,,, but it won't go over to 135...
call nissan dealer for spec. You can't have high compression unless you change
high compression piston... And i think that u dun know if u have high compression
piston cuz u won't be able to tear down whole engine...
If u don't know about compression readin.... then well go find some auto
repair shop or call dealer to learn compression readin man~! Good Luck!!!

Oh and also... People who wants to buy it let me know
I will test the motor right front of u...
and then if it has bad compression you will miss fire or either will hear piston slap!!!
I have A1 Engine ASE Certified; I know what to do w/ engine.... LOL

Are you serious? Stock sr compression should be like 160.

I had a blown piston ring and my compression was 50 in that cyl.

I had 125 at the max in the. Stop fucking making shit up..

both of those motors are TRASH. stock spec is 156psi with a minimum of 128psi for the SR20DET. apparently the only thing you know how to buy is junk motors.

Okay, im with you guys. But IF, keyword IF, he tested the motor before install; then it was more than likely with a jumpbox. In which case you would not have the engine at operating temperature which could explain the low compression numbers. Heat expands things, everyone knows this. Including your piston rings to seal the cylinders. So cold motor= low compression. A better way to tell would be to go look at it, let it get to temp, then test it yourself.......IMHO

true that.... it is hard to do a real compression test with the motor being out. NAD typically has good motors. its really hard to tell... either way its already out of the car and wouldnt be to much of a hassle to rebuild.

Black Mamba
12-09-2006, 06:20 PM
Hell Naw... This motor is not rebuilt one... and Call Dealership they know the
exact compression spec... Turbo engine should have 125 and 135..
and only non turbo one goes over 165 and 185....
What the fuck~ yall don't know shit about S13...
Call NAD auto!!! they got the compression readings too....
Damn man~ Learn Learn Learn how to read damn compression!!!
Only Bluebird With Turbo can go up to 185 psi....
ONLY BLUEBIRD!!!!
Most of Turbo Engine should have low compression...
Learn the theory about Engine w/ Turbo!!! guys~
Or Read the damn books why turbo engine need low compression!!!
If you really wanna know why Turbo need Low compression? then
send me private msg!!! then i will explain to you personally
I had 3 msg already that ppl know spec readin...
They all say that if its right compression they will buy it...
Please guys Learn if you really wanna buy some engine for later on

cuz don't know about spec reading and telling pplz shit!!!
here is guy who tested his motor when he had 20,000 mile and
did wet compression!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, I have a 93 Late Model Redtop SR20DET, and I ran a compression Test for the first time (been driving the car for over 20,000 miles now, lol).
The S14 Service Manual (I assume that it is very similar if not the same) states that the standard Factory compression should be 156 psi, with a minimum of 128 psi. Also that an acceptable difference between cylinders is 14 psi.

My SR:
--------------
#1: 145 psi
#2: 130 psi
#3: 143 psi
#4: 135 psi

So my question is this. My compression is well within spec, but I do have a difference between cylinders of about 15 psi. Should I be worried? Or should I just take in account human error in reading the gauge? Also, will I be fine by putting on a GT2871R?

He is an ASE cert Mechanic at Smart Cars....... Buford Highway and Jimmy Carter, I bet this guy is Korean. An why are you trying to bash on someone because of thier skin color.

"i think u don't even know about this
shit and making all the bull shit~!!! it's like all white ppl does shiTTTTT
just talk shit but never wanna fight~ I'm now trying to fight."

And I would also expect that someone whom is selling their car, is talking about try to fight someone. And I myself am half korean, just for the record. I dont understand why some Korean people act so damn cocky, when they think they know a little something. At the beginning of this thread you were so busy LOL, I am suprised you were able to type anything worthwhile. If you were so smart about the compression numbers, then you should have put a tablespoon of oil in each cylinder and posted the wet test numbers. I own a DSM with a 1g Cyclone engine, the stock compression is about 160 across the board, and that is with 7.8:1 compression ratio. Your stock Sr20det is 8.5:1. Hmmm 7.8:1 < 8.5:1! That must be the ultra rare, KDM version of the SR20DET.

Oh and here is something that you may understand; Dont makie pun of da peeper or day gonna raughing at you.
