You will have to forgive my delay in responding to this post. I saw the vid last night but I didint really start reading the post until just now.

Now I realize that this thread has progressed very far, however I want to say a few things.

1. As someone already stated, that was an 1/8mi not a 1/4. In a 1/4 the GTR would have won hands down.

Not to say the GTR is the ULTIMATE car, just stating the facts.

2. This thread has gotten a little crazy. Everyone is on here just talking shit.

3. I am down to hit the road course with the three of you. I would like to see how my GTR performs compared to the other vehicles. I still have my stock suspension and such, but I think I should still be able to hold my own. Just let me know some dates and shit and I will be happy to set shit up with you guys.

4. That R34 is SEXY as hell! Course still not as sexy as my baby! :taun::cheers: LOL.

5. I realize we initially started off comparing stock to stock, however in my opinion that is ridiculous. Did any of you here buy your cars for what the can do in stock form? Doubtful. We buy cars because of their POTENTIAL. Keep that in mind. From a strictly potential aspect, the EVO is a superior car to the WRX and STI as far as bang for buck. As far as how the GTR compares to the EVO, they are 2 different cars made for 2 different things. Depends on what you are comparing. A GTR with the same amount of money as an EVO would own on a drag strip, however the EVO would outperform it on a road course with expert maneuvers. Now dont get me wrong, the GTR would hold its own, however if there are serious maneuvers the EVO would be a bit better. In the same context however, if it is a beginner road course, I think it would be a VERY close race.

Ahh, this may indeed be true. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to try out an R34 hence I dont know how it performs. Even then however, my comparison was only with high difficulty road courses. I think on a average course the GTR, even the R33, would give it a run for its money.

Just an exhaust, clutch, and an ECU flash. I just launch VERY well.

Consider this friendly advise

If you have never been on a road course before do yourself a favor, go to a track day and do some ride alongs to get a feel for whether or not you even like it. If you do like it either go to a school, or go to nasa track day where you get an instructor in car with you. Turn you're boost controller off and learn how to drive. If you have never been on a road course then you need instruction and you need to learn to check you're ego at the gate. There is always going to be someone faster than you and its really hard to make yourself back off when you are pushing it beyond you're own limits. Its hard to go fast and its easy to wreck a car.
I would be more than happy to help anyone here learn how to really drive a car, its truly a passion of mine and I love to see more people get involved.

LOL! Nahh I dont expect too. I figure by the time we actually DO this road course thing it will be back in the season. Figure I can get some seat time in before we actually head out.

As a matter of fact I have been talking with a friend that does road courses, and he said the best thing to do is to do an SCCA Autocross type event first. That way you can learn more about your car and your limits. Then go to a road course with an instructor, and then start doing the road course yourself. That was kinda the path I was planning on taking. I dont really expect to be able to just go out there and do it.

Autocross is a goodway to get started, it teaches you to have quick hands which can be a benifit when things go wrong. Just make sure you work up to the limit. Like I said check youre ego at the door theres always someone faster.

Join NASA and sign up for their trackdays in the HPDE classes, you'll start off with having an instructor ride along. Eventually you'll work your way up to the red groups which allow passing (but not racing). If you want to race then NASA has a Time Trials class which is essentially time attack, except even though it's technically not wheel to wheel racing it's damn close. Beyond that for real wheel to wheel racing you'll need a dedicated race car as all of the required safety gear takes away most of the car's streetability.

Oh and BTW the BMW Car Club of America has a lot of driver schools at Road Atlanta. Even if you don't own a BMW you can still join for about $70 a year and track events are around $350. For that you get a lot of track time and instruction.

"re-built" Unless we lose hp from putting better rods and pistons and a bullett crank it should be the same from when we last tested it in oct.

If it's Porsche related and there is a track involved, you really can't go wrong. I want to know the details (driven quite a few Porsche track cars, aunt's boyfriend used to be an instructor with PCA)

The 993 is a great car, but since you a looking for a track car, I would suggest looking into the 930 Turbos. And of course you can't go wrong with the GT3

Well after driving both race-prepped 930 and 993, I liked the 930 better. Maybe it's because I've never been a fan of awd. The 930 was just very agile and was a tad tail-happy, which I love, never had to worry about understeer. There's nothing wrong with the turbocharging either, maybe for a street car but on a track there is minimal lag if you keep the revs high. On the topic of problems, the 993 has it's problems too (especially the turbo cars) I'm sure you know just as well as I do. It's just my opinion to go with the 930 as I know myself and many others prefer it to the 993. It just depends on your driving style and what you are looking for in a track car.

That said I would love a 993TT as a street car, but I'll stick with the 930 as a "cheap" weekend track car.

But like Leh said, go for the GT3. :yes:

Dude its over. I would personally love to have a Skyline than an STi.

But Stock for Stock.... in performance..... its a hard call. I'd probably go with the STi though, thats just me.

Indeed, Ztune's come with modified "things" just like the SpecV(Rtune/Ztune).

STi's can also come with factory upgrades. They have three stages for the New 07.
