Ok, so i got a ticket a couple weeks ago for 18 over. Not a huge deal, i figure i could go take defensive driving and what not, and atleast get the speed reduced so it won't go on insurance. Just my luck though, i get another one today on 400 for 27 over :(. So, that one won't be as easy to handle I don't think. Yea i know i fucked up, so im not looking for any sympathy. But, I do want to know if its worth getting a lawyer for, so maybe the 27 over could be dropped in speed, so that won't go on insurance either? Is that possible? Crappy thing is the court date for both tickets is the same day =o.
TIA for any help.

Lawyer is the way to go
Take the 18 over, and apply the class to the 27...
But get a lawyer for sure.. Same court same day same judge???
Not good for you...

I would use the defensive drivers course for the 27 over limit and get a lawyer to talk to the prosecuter(sp) to reduce the points because over 24 is automatic dl suspension. that's what I did. it might cost a little more but it is worth it.

This depends on your age... I got a 109 in a 55. Was like my 23rd speeding ticket... No suspension. Lots of money and TIME... but I kept my license...

Thats the biggest thing im worried about. Insurance went up a shitload as it is when i got my new car, not to mention a ticket :(.
Not bad but I'm old... I have 3 vehicles, and we pay about $300 a month or so... Wifey has no tickets...
I did pay when I was younger though...
single 1 car(Mustang Cobra) $320 a month. That is what really slowed me down. Paying double and triple monthly as what my friends paid...

get a lawyer, I got a 62 in a 35 in a school zone at midnight and had to go to court fo rit. I got a bunch of leters a few days later in the mail for lawyers. I picked the cheapest one. I ended up paying the states of North Carolina and him about 300 bucks each. But it got reduced to a 45 in a 35 and dropped the school zone part. I didnt even have to go to court.

Is this your first ticket? I got a ticket in Alpharetta doing 15 over. I went to court and the solicitor told me I could take an online driving class and get my ticket dismissed for $50. I got one the same month in Forsyth doing 28 over and since the Alpharetta ticket hadn't shown up on my record yet, it counted as my "first offense". I pleaded No-Lo, the judge gave me a slap on the wrist and reduced my $750 fine to $350 after court costs.
Just giving you some insight if you are in the same boat.

Just giving you some insight if you are in the same boat.I guess the 18 over is my first ticket, but since I don't have court for that till next year is it in the system? And can I go talk to the solicitor before my court hearing? Since you pleaded no-lo, how did your insurance fair?

Anyone know if its possible to request a court date change? I had an idea to get the 27 over ticket to a different date, if possible. That way i could come to the solicitor and be like check it out i did defensive driving and stuff, without having to mention the other ticket.

Well it's a little harder because I think you mentioned that your going up the same judge at the same day/time? I went to two different court systems (Alpharetta and Forsyth County) so they couldn't find out if it was my first ticket or not.
No-lo means you are not admitting guilt or innocence, but you pay the fine. This does not go on your record. Now, I've heard if you get another ticket within a years time, your new ticket as well as the no-lo ticket show up on your record.
If you weren't seeing the same judge and court system, then you can easily claim each ticket was your first time since they could never find out until it's actually on your record. This does not happen over night.
If you do not get a lawyer, your first bet would be to see the solicitor and see if they can work out a deal. Some court systems automatically make you talk to a solicitor. If you can get out of your Alpharetta ticket doing online driving class and get it dismissed, then use No-lo for your other ticket. By this time you will still have a clean record.

Same court/same time, so im assuming the same judge. I called the court today, asking if it was possible to speak with a solicitor ahead of time, but they said I have to wait till my court date. I already signed up for defensive driving in 2 weeks. Now going to have to go lawyer hunting I guess.
