hand built all of it. something like this takes about 3-4 weeks with two guys and costs between 20 and 35k (depending on what its made of). this one covers about 25 feet of wall space.

ehhh...not really believing it would cost 20-35k, you can have whole rooms added to your house for that w/ built in desks, etc

damn nice none-the-less

Custom-built with SOLID oak would be rediculously expensive.

35 grand expensive? doubtful.....

hand built? looks exactly the same as the one my cousin has at his house ;)

also 20-35k? what a waste of 20k imo

i wouldn't pay that much for it either, but i do it for a living and i know i wouldn't duplicate it for less than that for oak, and as the wood gets more expensive, so does the built in. there is between 5 and 7k of material alone in that office (double that for something like mahogony) and i worked on it for about a month and a half on my own. to shorten time, i would have to pay one or two people who know what they are doing which would cost me between 3k and 5 k for a 3 week period. additionally i have to pay myself and put some money aside (to pay for insurance, tool repair, workers comp, msc. material not covered in the initial bid, etc.) on top of that. custom costs a ton of cash, especially if you want it done right the first time and i'd have no problem finding someone who would spend 20k for that office.

im sure there are tons of people out there that would drop 20g's for next to nothing...i just dont see it being worth that much...the workmanship and material quality is obviously there, but is it worth 20k?

wow that is beautifull! Very good work. I'm sure if my dad had the time he would have done the same thing. We do alot of wood working. Except I would want mine done in something more exotic lol. Mohogany, paduke(sp) or purple heart

it just depends on who you ask. you said you don't think its worth that much, but there are other people who think it is. i've been building things like these for several years now, and it wouldn't be worth my time to build it for less than that. you can pick up pre fab office furniture for quite a bit less than 20k, but you have to make your office fit that furniture and more often than not, the quality of the material isn't as good and the workmanship might not be everything it can be either because those companies are just trying to crank out product as cheaply as possible. to build a custom office, bar, home theatre or kitchen, you will spend more because there is not a template for what you're building. it has never been built before and will probably never be built again. you get the flexibility to control the layout, and there is a higher quality of material, and in most cases, craftsmanship. many people think it is worth spending the extra dollar to get exactly what they want, while others think it is more worthwhile to settle for something and make it work. there is no definite answer.

lol, big spender. i'd be happy with maple or cherry.

btw, thanks for the compliments everyone. :goodjob:

That is a really nice job and I'm sure it could easily run upwards of 20-30K... I work with basically everything including wood everyday and understand the labor involved in a project like this... Although I would never put it in my own house (im more of a metal and glass kinda guy) I can appreciate the time and craftsmanship that goes into a project like this.

that is totally worth that if you want a custom built for your home... my parents have bar in their basement that was handbuilt and it was over 10k and is smaller then 25ft of wall space :goodjob:

dayum nice work.

handbuilt all of that? i'm speechless! that's some talent you have there man...

for those that think 20-30k for a nice office is ridiculous? i just paid 25k for 25 sheets (of paper!) of architectural drawings...at least you get a nice looking office after dropping 20-30k! it's all matter of class/level/priority/preference. :goodjob:
