This is at the Miller Motorsports Park (http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/) here in Iran, oops, I mean UT ;) The Carrera GT is bone stock, and driven by someone with track experience in other cars - but little experience so far in his new Porsche. The S2000 has about $10K of mods, including a supercharger and suspension work. (Not an "Uncle Ben's" suspension, mind you.) It's driven by someone with lots of track experience in his car.

(Sorry, this is all I know about the 2 cars and their drivers.)

So the question is: mods + experience ~= $10x difference in cost (after mods)?

From hearing other people's reviews of the Carrera GT it is one of the hardest cars in the world to control. There have been so many wrecks since the release. It really takes a ton of experience and some balls to drive them.

Thats how all of the high performance Porsches have always been. Look at how many people wrecked Porsche GT2s over the last 20 years.

I believe the Porsche... in the right hands would yield more potential. But thats just the thing. GT cars should not be that difficult to drive. Most world class GT cars, FIA GT and such, are not as difficult to drive as the Carrera GT.

The S2000's braking points would be different as well. He'd be able to brake deeper and lay into the throttle a lot sooner than the Carrera GT.

On certain tracks, even with an experienced Carrera GT driver, the S2000 would probably produce better hot lap times.

But you can never discount the tremendous amount of power the Porsche has. Isnt it upwards to 600bhp? I'd love to see that as an FIAGT car.

I even noticed the S2000 doing a little gear searching. He's either unfamiliar with the track or hasnt amassed that much experience yet. But hey, if you gave me a choice, I'd choose the S2000 any day of the week. I love those cars and the Porsche would scare me to death.

Porsches come de-tuned as it is because of the fact that a lot of people buy porsches and fuck up cuz they think they can drive like a pro just cuz they own a porsche. Also means that the Carrera GT is also de-tuned. Porsches are a little more difficult to drive because most people dont know what its like to drive a mid or rear engine car....weight shift is different and if u dont know what to do when u slip out a little....it can be disasterous. But yea....id choose the Carrera GT over ANY car out there...i love porsches:D

I agree. I've driven many porsches and the 911 is one of my favorite cars ever. After driving my aunt's boyfriends race-prepped 71 Targa and his current 930 Turbo, and feeling that back end start kickin out at the slightest lift of the throttle in the curves (albeit very predictably and controllably), I can't imagine driving a GT, even with my racing instruction and track time.

Videos like this only show what a driver can do.

I kicked some guys ass in a gutted and caged c6 z06 at Road Atlanta this weekend, it doesnt mean my Sti is faster it means I'm a better driver.

Exactly, a car only represents the limiting factor if the driver is 100% perfect.
