hey, guys/ladies....

my pup needs his last set of shots(he's actually late on them) everyone has told me to grab a "7 in 1" shot... which i can't seem to find.. i called a vet and they want to do like 10 different shots and bill me for each one...

my dillema(spl) is that he's got to go to a boarding house for the weekend(which i hate to do... he's been by my side everyday since the day i got him... it makes me sick to my stomach to have to do this...) so he's got to have his rabies shots and what not.. but i'm really concerned about parvo too...

and my next question is... i live in the marietta area, and i found a place called "best friends pet care" on johnson ferry rd. is that place good??? i don't want to take him anywhere, but since i have to i want to make sure they'll take care of him

no lie i feel like i'm about to have an anxiety attack thinking about this.

Interesting I live in marietta also. I think I saw your civ the other day, I noticed the wheels... Anyways my friends sister used to work there. Ive heard good things about it because they pay their employees well. Why not let a buddy take care of it for the weekend?

I used to work for Best Friends a few years ago. They are great for a short stay, but NOT over a major holiday. Too many dogs at once.

As far as your shots go here is an example of a 6 in one shot:

Multivalent vaccines are those that have more than one
disease antigen combined into one injection.
A typical multivalent vaccine is the DHLPPCv vaccine for dogs. Instead of giving six different injections, all these "vaccines" or antigens can be given in a single small volume injection. Certainly this is easier on the dog than getting six separate injections.

DHLPPCv stands for:

D... Canine Distemper Virus... a dangerous viral infection. "Distemper" is an odd name for a viral infection and this disease has no relationship to nor connection with a dog's temperament.
H... Hepatitis...a viral infection caused by two related viruses that mainly affects the liver.
L... Leptospirosis... a bacterial infection affecting the kidneys. This class of bacteria can infect humans, cows, dogs, pigs and other mammals.
P... Parainfluenza... a virus that along with the Hepatitis virus can cause upper respiratory infections.
P... Parvovirus... a severe and often fatal virus affecting the lining of the intestinal tract.
Cv... Coronavirus... is very similar to the Parvovirus, can be very severe, but has a somewhat different effect on the intestinal tract and generally is not fatal.

Sometimes pups will get sleepy when they get their last shots with rabies. Watch out for a vaccine reaction. Sometimes a lump or sore may form where the shot was given.
