Well today at work we had a nurological cat (had these symptoms for 2 days now) bite one of the techs.. we ended up putting the cat to sleep because of blood levels and such.. and to be safe we cut off the head and sent it to the cdc.. They will be testing it for rabies and we should have the results earliest on Friday. I am still a bit nervous as I was holding the cats and I have a few scratches on my hand.. If it comes up positive.. everyone who touched the cat has to get a rabies vaccines.. (well series of them)... Even if it comes back negative I still think im going to get one..

No.. they usually dont test people.. If you have been bitten or even touched an animal with rabies.. they will treat you no matter what..

It is transmitted from saliva to blood.. thats why they worry so much when you get bit.. and since I was holding the cats neck (and cats do groom themselves.. with saliva) and I had open cuts.. I still run a risk..
