If I am not mistaken its a recirculation valve...don't know the exact terminology for it, all it does is recirculate exhaust gas's back into the intake just like the EGR valve. I have only seen that on KA24(D)E's.

actually, thats the AIV system. very similar to the EGR system, but SOHC KA's dont need
it to pass emissions. the EGR valve is on the back of the intake manifold for those of you wondering.
