They should have an 800 number for you to call, or a corporate HR person to speak with. You're an employee so you shouldn't expect some huge settlement, but you focus for now on getting your hospital stay and subsequent visits payed for. You're an employee, so that law gets kinda tricky when it comes to covering your injuries. If you were a customer, and you injured yourself, you'd still be expected to show negligence on the part of Outback, but because they employ you, there's a greater expectation for you to prove that you're not filing for work. comp. fraud.

Then again, I dont know what Im talking about. Im not a lawyer...yet

YOU know you're in pain, YOU know it was a mistake, but you're trying to get a corporation to shell out money, they cover their asses first and foremost. Do you have benefits? Like, dental, health, or vision?

Once I mixed bleach and ammonia for a superior cleaner, then spent the next several hours breathing fresh air out side the store.

i work at outback steakhouse and last night i got hurt real bad.....

the fry cook was changing the fryers and i had to go to the walk in freezer for something, on the way back i slipped and fell, to make it worse the metal bucket used to change the fryer was right next to wher i fell. naturally a person falling would try to catch themselves... exactly what i did and my entire arm got submerged in 326 degree grease.. i got 2nd and 3rd degree burns all over my arm and spent the night in the ER... and yes i cried like a lil bitch, that shit hurt and still does i only got 1 arm.. i wanna know the legal thungs about this since outback doesnt have non slip shoes.. im in pain but this might be what i need to pay for college.. whatchall think???you work at the outback off of DELK RD??

sad sad sad sad.. you have a real accident at your work place and thinking about $$$$. Im going to save this thread and give it to outback.

People like you make me sick. Shouldve burned both arms, like that you wouldnt be able to count any $$$.

Shouldn't you be able to get workers comp until you heal? You did get hurt at work.

>.>.... damn i don't really understand. maybe it was teh cook's individual's fault... like if the bucket wasn't supposed to be there in the first place. Or if outback had somewhere that thats where the bucket is supposed to be then i guess it'd be outback's fault. but yea a big no-no. Don't post about insurance/accidents and stuff until they are resolved.

and julio i don't think its too nice to wish 2nd and 3rd degree burns on anyone dude. I feel so sorry for him because I kno his pain. I burned my leg once on an open oven door, and I could only imagine what having my whole extremity submerged in a liquid just as hot could feel like.

To you man, I'm sorry for your pain. Be careful with what you do, and drink lots and lots and lots of water. no joke, prolly 2-3 gallons a day lol. get well soon, gl with your situation. And don't post anymore about the insurance or w.e.

Pssh, that's nothing. I've mixed bleach and antibacterial dish soap for a supercleaner, and stayed there and smelled that shit. Multiple times. That's probably why I'm so stupid now. Damn, now I wanna go do it again. Good times...

sad sad sad sad.. you have a real accident at your work place and thinking about $$$$. Im going to save this thread and give it to outback.

Why not? Outback fucked up and injured him, so he should make some money off of it. Don't get it twisted, this whole country's based on money.

People like you make me sick. Shouldve burned both arms, like that you wouldnt be able to count any $$$.

That's pretty fucked up Julio, that like me going into Matt's hospital room and calling him a fucking idiot for standing in front of the car. Plus wishing what must be excruciating pain on someone is a pretty big no-no.

RutRoe

You guys are missing Julio's point entirely.

He's not looking for them to cover his medical bills, in his exact words "maybe pay for college."

Go look in a mirror. That's total bullshit

RutRoe

And for the record, there's a big difference between making something right and making something off of something else entirely.

DO NOT compare Matt's serious injuries to this guy. Different situations, and Matt wouldn't ever make a bullshit thread like this one.

what he decides to do with his pain/suffering bills doesn't matter. The as long as his motive is to seek compensation for suffering through 2nd/3rd degree burns over his entire are then I think theres nothign wrong with it. So if I got my arm chopped off because of some company's lack of safety and made plans with the money its bullshit? I think not. I see his point, but its not like he when and dunked his arm in a bucket thinking "college funds here i come"

(edit: at least i hope his motives are sincere, otherwise disregard)

i worked at outback for 2 years... i was a bartender, the one in peachtree city
...lol just thought i'd throw that in there.

but yeah, you can def. get workmans comp, and they should cover your hospital bills too. if you're a FOH employee, workmans comp is tricky because you make tips, so hopefully you have been claiming what you really make for the past month, because i think they take an average of that and base that on what they pay you.

But you missed my point entirely. I thought that because he just wanted some money to pay his hospital bills, Julio wished he got burned on both arms. I realize now that that's not what he said, but you mean to tell me that me calling him an idiot because of an accident isn't somewhat of a corollary to Julio wishing harm to him because from what I thought he wanted money to pay for his injuries?

Once I mixed bleach and ammonia for a superior cleaner, then spent the next several hours breathing fresh air out side the store. lol i did something like that once, cept i made some striaght up acid..i did it when i worked in the kitchen at the hospital lol..i poured it on the floor after i made it to start clenaing the floor and well when it hit the metal drains and other metal shit in there..lets just say there was cluds of smoke forming and that strong as smell lol...:ninja: i thought it was funny, but it scared a few people..including my supervisor who later laughed about

lol.. some of you guys are retarded. I guess RUT was the only one who saw my point.

Thats why our Court system is so screwed up sometimes because of loosers like him who all they think of is taking advantage of the system, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. Why is he thinking about money for COLLEGE?? Why not let his job pay for the bills and make sure hes gets better etc?? and move on? But nooooo, he wants Outback to make him rich ! hahahah
Fucking stupid to me. .. But whatever... I just hate to see people take advantage of the system when is not neccesary.

If I got hurt at work and it was someone else's fault, I'd want to get payed something. I think if employers are responsible they pay more attention to who they hire, which would make the place safer.

well im not trin to ake advandtage of the situation, as a matter of fact it was the nurse in the emergenct room that said that the restaurant would be held responsiblw for what happened.. i just wanted to know the legal aspecks of it.. if they are held acountable im not gonna let something like this just roll over.. as for workers comp i will only get paid 60% of what i usually make which will not cover my bills and expenses..

Sorry Julio, but how does one decide when it's NOT necessary to take advantage of the system?
The system fucks us daily; bullshit revenue-generating traffic laws, cops, taxes, insurance companies, and anything else negative and/or unfair that happens to us while being average normal people.

Sure, excess money may be the adult candy that temporarily covers the root of the actual problem or cause thereof, but I think the principle here is simple:
Returning the fucking is a rare opportunity that should not be ignored.

RutRoe
11-22-2006, 08:52 AM
I think you should elect different people to office. They're the biggest influence on those things that you mentioned...

Without companies like Outback and tons of others, you might not have any work, and then all those other things that you mentioned you would see how you could be a burden on that system. So wether you realize it or not, free enterprise certainly helps our society.

And Julio and I aren't speaking firmly in the law...it's more like Karma.

Homeboy's changing his tune a little once someone pointed out what he's trying to do is wrong, so whatever. It's not my problem.

And just for the record, if you try to "return the fucking" as you put it dude, watch your back, cause when the "system" screws you again it will be so much worse than the attempted screwing you gave them.

I am sorry that this happened, however you need to take some responsibility for what has happened. You knew the floor was slippery, but yet you did not take the precaution of buying proper shoes.
