actually you dont have to be 21 for handguns. done even have to be 21 to purchase one, only requires parental permission.

Actually, you may be partially right and it's probably due to the slanted source you are quoting.
Yes, it is technically possible for an 18 yr old to "own" a pistol, but you have to jump through a lot of hoops which basically widdles that down to nill.
I guarantee you that if ANY 18 yr old waltzes into any gun shop around and asks to buy a handgun....99.99999% of the time he will be turned away.
