E30IS? :D

My friend dominic has one...nice cars...

It's an 325E, somewhat unfortunately. The 325I has more hp, but the E has more tq. It's got a Dinan chip, which uncorks it a ton, though. The E is extremely restricted from the factory, it was supposed to be the good fuel economy model. It should have about 130hp, 180ft. lbs right now. There are plenty of ways to make it faster than an I. :)

That is cool, nice car none the less.

Once you start doing things to these they get mean fast, specailly with the handling...

The E30IS has a 6 cycl. motor, if I am not mistaking I believe that all of the other E30s had a 4 cycl. including the E30 M3

The 325i is a 2.5 straight 6, 325e is 2.7 straight 6, and the 318i is a 1.8 4cyl

The 325IS and ES distinctions are just option packages. Different front spoiler, steering wheel, seats, and clutch type limited slip diff. :)

Mine's got Tokico springs and dampers, it handles pretty well.

Thanks for the comments. :D

Is that an E with a bumper tuck?

slowrolla97
11-19-2006, 06:09 PM
e30 M3 is a 4 cycl.

You should do the I head swap. Then you would have tq. like an e but hp like an I. :)

Any questions just ask

Hey slowrolla, I've read a bit about the I head swap. There are a few obstacles to get around. The I head has a different shaped combustion chamber which lowers the compression ratio to approx. 7.9:1, which is waaaay too low. I've been wondering if I could somehow just use the E head but use stiffer valve springs and the I cam to let it rev as high. As far as I know the only thing that keeps the E from revving is the weak valve springs. Have you done the swap?

slow rolla just gets all his info from meh.......

I am an e30 addict, but mine suddenly decided to be a bitch and lock the tranny in 2nd gear....

i went under it and found tranny fliud everywhere coming out of the rear seal... (a seal i had a shop replace a month ago so that it wouldnt leak....)

but as of now i have a 1 speed manual e30 with a top speed of 50mph....

but yeah swap the i head with the dual valve springs and the i intake and you have 1 hell of a turbo motor.....:-P

PM me if you ever need anyhelp.... I love working on e30s

I'm rocking no center caps on my stock wheels too. I lost jsut one, so I can't run any of them. Is yours the same story? Or did you lose them all?

Nismo9220
11-21-2006, 10:53 AM
Hey Buford. Actually, the previous owner had the center caps but he wasn't willing to let them go with the car. He wanted extra for them because he had collected them through a bunch of different ebay auctions. I didn't want them anyway.

I can't wait to get a limited slip for it. :)

Nice e30 if you ever need any work done or have any questions hit us up. 678-482-2221 ask for Thomas. I've had like 10 of them, they are my favorite...! e30's rule..! I have one with a m50 in it that i race and one we are about to turbo charge =) can't wait!

I have an i head for the m20 if you are looking into doing the e to i swap.

Thanks for the kind words everybody!

Just got a new exhaust on it yesterday, as well as an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and some of the airbox tricks that make these things so much fun to work on. The computer is so easy to fool.

do all the HP work you want you will still be limited to gearing to arouind an actual speed of around 125-130 although the very optomistic speedo will say you will be doing otherwise.....

e 30s r nice. but relatively slow. a nicely equipped s70 twin turbo would smoke it!

Are you talking about an 850csi motor or a Volvo S70? Either way...really astute observation that a twin turbo motor will smoke a n/a low revving straight six...You wrok. :goodjob:
