You really need to check out a store first to see which brands fit you best. Icon feels weird on me, and I love Joe Rocket. Same with helmets, had an HJC but switched to Shoei, a HUGE difference. Oh yeah and if you wear a XL or 46 in Joe Rocket each brand will be off by a little. So start from there

I agree with trying things on. Working for a dealership, I run across all sorts of brands with each fitting a little different from the other. You really need to find what fits you and suits your needs as a rider.

As far as helmets are concerned, you have to decide if you have a $50.00 head or a $500.00 head. The same applies with jackets.

OH ok... in this case I hink it is easier to match a helmet first then go with a jacket. Helmets tend to come in a larger variety of colors. Some of the Arai's and even the HJC's come in pretty cool color patterns. Stop by a dealership and look through some books. I can think of a couple Arai patterns that may go pretty well.

Then I would pick a jacket...

Black combos aren't bad and they usually run you overall a little cheaper.

Don't worry about "matching". New riders do that, but most seasoned riders just wear whatever gear they have. Buy gear that is "neutral" and will not look out of place on different colored bikes. Black and gray are safe colors.

get good gear, don't worry about whether or not it matches. a quality piece of gear that fits right is far more valuable than matching your bike's paint color.
