True, but ballpark figures are always good to know ahead of time. This isn't a corporate job like Bell South or Microsoft or some other high up office job. It's an auto parts retailer. That's like to going to McDonald's and haggling for your wage. Interview is where you go to finalize your pay. Later, QD.

there are diferent pay ranges and they usually go off of experience, knowledge, etc....... I can say that it ranges from about $7.50/hr - $11/hr it just depends. My district manager is working closely with me seeing that this is all new to me.
Also the post seems a little confusing. I am hiring for full time and part time regular employees (or as we call them red shirts) AND full time and part time management (grey shirts)

There is also a new store opening in Newnan off of the new bypass where Wal-Mart is! They're looking for many positions! A friend who's a manager at another Autozone is making $13.50/hr working sometimes 55hrs/wk....

That is cool BUT I am looking for help at MY store. Like I said in a previous thread when I got promoted, it all depends on different factors. You have people that talk a good game but FAIL the job survey which includes questions about theft, accidents, drug use, etc.
I have had applications come in where I pre-screened people and they seemed decent but they couldn't fill out the application correctly or didn't pass the survey. The money is there but you have to be worth it. It is easy to say "my friend makes $13.50 an hour" but there definately are other factors. Hell before I was promoted I made $13/hr but it took some hard work and promoting to get there. I started at $8.50/hr and now almost 2yrs later (in December) I am store manager, salaried.

Had a gay store manager hit on me, when I went to hr about it was told they would handle it. nothing happened
was promised more money many times, never happened
finally told them to kiss my ass and went back to turning wrenches.
IF YOU GO TO WORK FOR THEM, DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. THEY WILL FUCK YOU OVER AT ANY CHANCE THEY GET!!!!!

That sounded like a STORE level problem. I have had no problems what so ever and everytime I was told I get more money it was a done deal. I am not a cheerleader for them or anything, but I do know that money situations come from your Store Manager and District manager, which I had/have a good relationship. I don't kiss ass, I just show and prove on PAPER. I am good at what I do and I take pride in whatever I do. You really have to know how to get what you want (and thats in life too) and go for it.
I did it by going to help at other stores. Many of them being out of my way, BUT each time I would go I would negotiate a raise. Then there's like a cap (they don't tell you about it) on what positions make what. Meaning, you can't be a fulltime reg. employee making $11/hr. You would need to step up to the next level.

I was in management. was in management(grey shirt) in 4 stores and went to others to diagnose problems in management, then made recommendations as to the correct "fix" for the store problems. Point is that Autozone will screw you at the first opp the company gets.
see a lie allready, I was hired in at 10 and hour, red-shirt, part-time mon-fri.
I forget what i "topped out at" as a grey. I do recall that every store i worked in had an average increase in sales of 15k a week. when I left they had an average decrease in sales of @8k a week.

Its nothing to argue about, really. OK, you got fucked over, but that doesn't mean EVERYONE will get fucked over. Also, that could be said with ANY company. You think muthafuckers gonna stop getting jobs with Fortune 500 companies because somebody felt like they got fucked over??? NO. You just move on.
Also pay wise, I guess it depends on your market. I see your location is Gainesville/Lawrenceville. I can almost GUESS that you all were NOT hypershrink stores. Your stores probably don't have to do half of the extra paperwork and extra stuff we have to do. My district alone is one of the HARDEST district to work in. Its in the "inner city" as the big draws like to call it. High, high, high theft and shrink. I can PM you more about it if you like because I don't want to scare off potential employees, because the situation has definately improved, compared to last year.

Did you really have to ask why I was worried about drug tests? Everything you said was obvious, thus no need to have been posted. I asked, b/c I know I couldn't pass one, so if they did in fact do random drug testing there is no reason to waste the company's and what is infinitely worse my time. :goodjob:

just want people to be aware of issues involved with autozone
when you draw 15-20k a week in sales, 10 or 11 an hour is low.
yes i knew ken, he was more concerned with his image than keeping the employees that made him money happy.

10 to 11 bucks an hour for regular none managent position is about right.. No matter what sales are at...
You have to stay around what your market is at, Im sure if you go to pepboys , napa etc. the pay is around the same. I dont know shit about Autozone.... But to me it makes sense.
Most places (retail) non management positions usually pay around 8 to 12 bucks... Thats about average.
Now if you are making 10 bucks as an assistant w/ no bonus or nothing.. then yea, thats lame.
I think you said you were making 11 bucks Part time.. thats pretty decent if you ask me for a PT gig.

as long as you havent taken auto shop therefore furhter limiting your possibility for blatant ignorance in reguards to auto parts.
youd probably have more success for hiring autozone caliber employees in this thread if you retitled it
"Wanted, ignorant baffons incapable of knowing simple things like SS Camaros come with a v8 not a v6, edelbrock cams do not exist for a 88 rx7 turbo II, when someone asks for a power steering PUMP you do not bring them a black rubber hose, people who think rubber gromets from the HELP! section will also double as a freeze plug for a ka24de, people who think everyone needs to hear about their 92 civic with a ZC swap and removed backseat and parts they bought form autozone and would like to race them right at that very moment as they are buying an alternator for their 2002 camaro SS engine, complete lack of automotive knowledge encouraged!!!
extra wages available in return for forfeiting all of your dental hygiene items"

unfortunately I don't hire 17 year olds. You have to be 18 or older. I believe that Autozone can hire under 18, but there are so many rules and regulations, and extra stuff that at this time I do not have the time to do.
This is an update to my hiring. I think that its been about 3 weeks or so and I damn near fired (or shall I say they fired themselves) the whole crew except for 3ppl. HAHAHAHAHA. Put it like this, I came in and turned the store completely around. The morale in the store is cool, we all get along, etc
A little bit of info that I am proud of: When I came in we were #93 out of 107 stores in reference to sales each week. This week, now that my new people are trained and motivated we came in at #7 out of 107 stores in the Atlanta Region. I think that is DAMN good. I worked my ass off. I couldn't even get on importatlanta!!!!!!!
Now I need a couple more bi-lingual people, part timers, drivers, and a Commercial Specialist (comm. manager) Come holla at me!!!
