Whats going on yall. I am 16 and i drive a 1983 Silverado that is black with flames on it with a small block 350 that pushes aroun 374. But i am interested in changing from the hot rod scene to imports. I am wondering whay yalls opinions on a good start up car would be (civic.. etc..?)

in my opionion a 90-93 accord yea it was intended to be a family car but once u kno wut other's kno and the kool shit that u can do to them u would be amazed. u can swap out the F series and get a h22 swap its a direct swap so much more u can even go boost on the stock motor because of the strong sleeve's and low compression and so many setup's to choose from but it all depend's on wut u like and wut u want almost any honda is able to be modified into a monster it all depnds on your pockets:goodjob:

or what you could do is buy my car for $6000, '97 Honda Prelude. I already have it started for you with a few mods...

if not, its really gonna be your own personal discretion. I mean i can say the Prelude is the best car, but it might not be for you. Also how much are you thinking about spending total? Either you could get a really really cheap car and build it, or a better car for a little more and build it a little less.

yea i have wanted to get a a pre 96 car. But see my dad owns a goodyear and he is always around cars and shit so every car i want he has to look at. and he doesnt liek pre 96 because of how hard the computer systems are to work on and how expensive they are to fix. Also because he can do emmisions and pre 96 takes a special machine. what is yalls opinions on this. Is it true that pre 96 cars do have hard computer systems because of the technology or what. thanks.. michael..

dude, its not a big deal. emissions will be done for $25 anywhere, the only difference is that they need a dyno thing which is common. besides, if you plan on doing a swap, it will most likely be a after 96' motor...

if u are gonna get a honda get one that holds the honda rep...a lightweight one(crx, hatch) thats what makes hondas great...the accord and prelude are good cars and everything but they are heavy as hail for a honda. if u want RWD get a 240 put a SR20 in it and get a good mani then go big turbo. other options are a awd eclipse/talon if u wanna go AWD

WOW accord are heavy no i think not. imean compared to a hatch and crz hell yea but atleast if i get hit in a accord i'll be alive. but the prelude is heavy near 3100 pounds but a cb7 is wut 2733 pounds about the same or lessa as your srt-4 so imean like i said it all depend on wut u lik and want to go with G/L:goodjob:

yea.. but idk i honestly dont like that hatchback look.. as far as being a light car what would you recomend as a light coupe? and i know the emmisions isnt really the big problem with pre 96 cars.. its the dam computer systems they are hard to diagnose cause they need special scanners and there expensive to work on.

Using a 4 inch jumper wire to see how many times the check engine light blinks to then cross reference that number to the code in a manual is hard??? Older ones (ie 1st gen integra) had an LED on the computer itself. Goodyear you say... *sigh* If they can't diagnose an OBD-0 or OBD-1 car then just tell the shop to not bother showing up in the morning... ;)

Advice, you find a car you're interested in then go buy the FACTORY manual or you can even settle for a Haynes. Read it before you even buy the car and you might even figure out a few things to look for when purchasing one :2cents:

It's 85 to 87 Corolla GTS. Yes this is the ae86. I love mine. go to Club4AG and read up on them. They are amazingly fun little cars.
