Can anybody tell me how to make .gif files? I dont mean to save something as .gif. Like how to make pics in motion and shit.

first you need a program to compile an animated gif. i second the google idea. or try cnet, or downloads.com. then you need a bunch of still images, and most compilers will have seperate frames for you to import the images into. or you can draw stuff. go crazy with it. or some shit.

So if I wanted to make a .gif out of a movie then I would need to take frame by frame screenshots?

i have a site bookmarked on my home comp with STEP BY STEP instructions on how to make a gif using imageready...ill post it up when i get home. ive only done it once so i dont remember the steps yet, i made this one a while back and had it as my sig. i made it out of a video....its kinda big thas why paul made me remove it lol

I use Ulead you can do Video captures that way.

Put all the images you want to use into a folder on your desktop. Open Image Ready and go to file > import > folder as frames. Now you have all the photos opened and you can set the amount of time that you want each to play for and all that stuff.
