yea they are cheap, but u should look into the mazdaspeed6's also they are even cheaper.. they go for 20k all day long. Since they are about to change the body style, they are tyrin to get rid of them. hell of a deal.. on both. a few ppl have test drove the Ms3's and said they are really really quick.. it even outperforms the MS6 as well, i think mazda shot themselves in the foot maybe..lol

WRX. It wont take much in terms of modding for it to take the 3. Plus the WRX already has a pronounced aftermarket, as the 3 will take a year or so to have parts that dont cost an arm and leg to upgrade with.
Get an 04/05, or maybe the 06s with higher displacement.
I plan on keeping my Wagon forever, and in the next year or so picking up an STI.
Lets have that precious Mazda3 run a simple Stage 2 WRX and see where it stands

It just depends what you're looking for. If you get the ms3 and mod it, we'll just have another high powered tractionless Fwd car on the road. At least with the suby, you'll have some room. I'd wait and see how well the Ms3's sell and what people think of them. The first year production cars always have some minor shit that goes wrong w/ them.

Go for the WRX. You can find 02s for around 12K, you could spend the extra money on an STI shortblock and a 6speed swap and still should have another 4K for other mods. Wagon or sedan they're great practical cars.
The MS3 looks really nice but high HP and FWD should never go together. I'd definately take one over an SRT-4.
Do you not have a 5 speed?
Horrible comparison. You should've kept it to yourself.
A STi is not an impossibility.
I get told everytime I say I want a WRX to get an STI. The insurance has to be like $5K a year. And when people point towards a car that is like $8K more than you want to pay I consider it an impossibility.

It's all up to what you want out of the car; if you want to make serious HP just start with the STI. If you want to make around 300whp the WRX is fine but at those levels the engine and tranny are both reaching failure points.
Huh.. Failure points.. How so? Even with the newer transmission from 2004-up
GTScoob

Piston rings are weak on the EJ20, they can handle a lot of midrange boost but not upper RPM boost. The tranny is a mixed bag, some people have blown them up on stock cars and some people have run 350whp through them with no problems. 02s have notoriously weaker trannies than other years, 06s have the strongest gears. Personally I dont like the ratios on stock WRX 5speeds I've driven; 1-3 are fine but then the gap into 4th gear drops you way out of the powerband.

For an $8,000 difference in price, you have to think of what you get.
An extra 100hp out of the box, Brembos, MUCH nicer interior, 6 disk changer, Defi gauge cluster, virtually indestructible drivetrain, nice wheels, better suspension, strong block, HIDs, and better styling.
If you can't afford it, then you just can't afford it.
You have to ask yourself what you really want. If it doesn't plan on seeing more than 300awhp, you'll be fine with the WRX. Anything much higher than that and you're begging to start breaking parts. If you plan on doing extensive modding/upgrading, there's no comparison for the price.
I hope we are kidding that a Mazda 3 could beat a WRX. Stage Two would rape it.
the ms3 did beat the 07 wrx on the track.. by 2 seconds i believe, and in every other category except the 0-60. the only cars they compare it to is the wrx b/c it is soo much better than the others in its class (civic-gti-ss-srt4). the ms3 makes as much as the stage2 makes(power wise).. But i mean if ur gonna get technical put a stage 2 ms3 and a stage 2 wrx against each other. stock v. stock is as fair a race as it will get.
if u want the awd, id say go with the MS6 its cheaper than the ms3 and u could prob find a 06 Mazdaspeed 6 fully loaded for about the same as a Ms3. BUt if u want a wrx..i think u could maybe find a used EVO, for maybe around 20-21k. well it sorta depends on what your plans are. Do you want to go for more of a straight line car or a car that's good in the twisies? SRT4 is the fastest from a roll. If you decided SRT-4 there tons of easy cheap mods that give you great power. Also make sure it's an 04 or 05, 03's have smaller injectors and no LSD. WRX's are quick as well. They will out handle a SRT easily. Not sure on the price to power ratio for the parts available. The new MazdaSpeed 3 is nice as well. Pretty quick too. The only problem you'll probably have is it's a new car and they're probably not to many parts available for them yet but I could be wrong. Good luck on your decision and make sure it's what you like :goodjob:

Yeah that's why I brought up that the SRT is fastest from a roll cuz most people don't go from stops anymore. I have nothing against any of the other cars. I wish the SRT was AWD cuz FWD is a pain cuz SRTs are notorious for wheel spin/wheel hop. if all you care about is racing then get a honda hatch for cheap and then swap and boost it. That will be faster from a roll and cheaper.

That is true but thats a risk im willing to take
Risk, what are YOU talking about? Its guaranteed. Go talk to your insurance company and see first hand for yourself. :goodjob:
You were born in 1987? On second thought, dont buy a Subaru. Get the Mazda or Dodge. :goodjob:

it all depends on money your spending... if you wanna go cheap i would just get the srt4 and call it a day... you can do quite a bit w/ those cars for inexpensive; if you want to spend money i would buy wrx or another car not listed such as used: S4 or new 2.0t (but i'm a euro nazi)

Will a company even insure someone under 20 in that car at all. If so how much? I know a guy who like 10 years ago the company told him at 18 they wouldn't insure him on a twin turbo 300zx.

I say the Mazdaspeed 3 because it has the best bang for the buck and it handles the best. It is also the rarest of the group.
