I found this 2001 Jetta 1.8t that is really nice and has 62,000 miles. But then I searched reviews online and I found websites like http://www.myvwlemon.com/ and all kinds of people pissed off at VW. Are they really that unreliable compared to a honda or toyota?

I used to work at a an auto shop and those cars were the biggest peices of crap ever. Most had very expencive problems and VW never backed them. Steer clear of the Jetta

i have an 00 have put 90k on it w/o a single issue; my 1.8t only had issues after i started making tons of boost and maxing it out to its potential (only issues were MAF sensors)

hmmm i have had 3 hondas well 1 other 2 were acuras and i have had more problems with those then i have had with my jetta.

lets see

98 GSR Integra - Vtec silinoid went bad every 5k. I had to add oil every 1500-2000k or else my oil light and cel would come on. by 90k i had to change out every gasket there is on the damn car. Went through 2 radiators in 2 years.

92 ls integra - Radiator, and When it got wet It flooded inside the car from the dash board. Thats all i can remmber.

88 Civic - Actually if it wasnt for those reverse donuts i wouldnt of had any problems. LoL

Brandis 98 Accord needs all new gaskets.

Friend bought a 2000 accord, 4 banger had tranny replaced at about 40k.
Another friend w/ a 2004(or is it a 2005??) V6 had tranny replaced at about 40k as well.

All cars have there problems, If you dont wanna deal w/ paying for them then get a new car with warrenty. And it seems car companys are tring for the best warrenty now. BMW all you gotta pay is oil changes and tires till 100k. GM has there 100k/5 year. Mitshu/hyundai(sp?) has ther powertrain plus 100k/5 year, free oil changes and tires(there is alot to it buut it works out, my mom has an 07 eclipse and so far so good.)

My 1.8T GTI has been reliable, no problems. There are lemons out there, but as long as you check service records you probably won't get one.

the car im looking at has no problems at all when we run the OBDII diagnostic. im considering taking the risk and buying it.

I had 2 MKIV Jettas, No probs VW didnt take care of. A few coil packs undr warranty, a heated leather seat control, and a MAF. My Hondas were always trannies and engine rebuilds, also warranty, but it was 2 months vs 1 day.
