I think the time has come for me to pick up a laser/radar jammer. This is something I dont know much about except for here in florida its illegal to have a jammer, but i dont really care. What should I look for? What are good companies to look at?

If you have the money for a detector, find a Valentine!

Do they just detect or do they jam to? I think I want to go with a jammer just to be safer from the stand point of if they do hit me with something I have time to slow down.

Blinder laser jammer and Escort X50 radar detector are a great combination. They have paid for themselve 10 fold and work GREAT!

The Blinder I have on my car was expensive, but comes with both front and rear jammers. I have jammed an officer using laser while I was going 100mph. I think I paid around $700+ for it plus the installation. The Escort was under $400.

A little advice though. Follow the instructions precisely when using the laser jammer. You are suppose to slow down to the speed limit, turn it off completely, and let them get a proper reading otherwise they will think something is up.
