Rapper Slick Rick is facing deportation from the United States again, after a three-year-old ruling that allowed the rapper to stay in the country was overturned last month.
On Sept. 21, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) overturned a 2003 waiver issued by New York Judge Kimba Wood, which allowed the English rapper to remain in the United States, despite his having been convicted of attempted murder in 1991.

Walters, 41, served 5 years & 12 days for shooting his cousin and a bystander in a disagreement in 1990. Under U.S. law, any foreign national that serves more than 5 years in prison for committing a felony faces automatic deportation.

In 1995 the rapper won a ruling by an immigration judge that allowed him to stay in the United States. In June 2002 Walters was re-arrested, after performing on a Caribbean cruise ship.

When the luxury boat returned to Miami, the Immigration and Naturalization Service cited a 1997 arrest warrant on immigration violations and charged Walters with voluntarily deporting himself and illegally reentering the country.

Walters served 17 months in the Immigration and Naturalization Service Detention Facility in Bradenton, FL before being released in Oct. 2003.

The rapper's case has been assigned to Florida's 11th Circuit Court and he has been stripped of his status as a permanent resident and once again, faces deportation.

Once upon a time not long ago,
when people wore pajamas and lived life slow,
When laws were stern and justice stood,
and people were behavin' like they ought ta good,
