i watched V for Vendetta today and i was wondering where this quote was originally from?

"Citizens should not be afraid of their government. Government should be afraid of its citizens."

V said it in the movie, i know ive heard it somewhere before, i mean is it from one person or is it more of a philosphical saying?

That is a fairly old saying, but I dont know who said it the first time. I am wanting to say that someone that lead one of the french revolutions said it...but in french of course...

I like the line from that movie at the end of the final fight scene

'Bullets kill people, but Ideas are bullet proof' or something like that...

my favorite scene was with all the alliteration of the "v" words when he first meet her.

But as far as the original quote. I know it was V was a comic book a while back...not sure on the origin of the phrase though.

LOL, man you ever manage to get a strike off of a gutterball?? I did that before, threw the living shit outta the ball, turned right for the gutter, so I turned around to go back to the ball return then everybody that was there with me was all got this "No fuckin way?!?" look on their face, look back and not a single pin standing. :lmfao:

don't believe that was a direct quote taken from anyone, however, its basis and principles have been echoed in the past through similar quotes.
