Has anyone here done a k24 swap? Namely the ones from the element/crv. I have scrapped the d17 turbo idea, and looking to go k. I'm only looking for around 220whp with some good tq and a k24 with some haedwork/cams/k-pro seems to be the way to go. Anyone have any insight on the swap. I could always go k20a2, but the k24 are SOOO much cheaper, that i could use the extra 2500 to build a nice motor.

^^i am in the process of doing one....check the car pics section....but the K24 u are talkin about must be the K24 from the TSX....if that is the case then its not going to be cheap *wit luck it might*....i am doing an accord K24 ...and eventually +boost....now that is the cheaper route...wit the EM chassis...the best is the K20 if u have $$$ becuz urs is a coupe....still require some parts from a RSX but i have all of that if u want it...but if u are on a budget K24 *Accord, element, CRV* are the best to go

not the tsx motor, i was talking about the k24 from the CRV/element/accord. I know that there are differences between the three tho. In the latest superstreet there is a CIvic wagon with an element k24 swap making ~220 whp NA, with 180ft/lbs i think. Which fits right into my goal for my car.

I know i can make more power with a k20, but i won't have nearly as much tq.

u sure will....a K20A2 *type S* makes very good torque...dont be fool by the 2.0 L and the 2.4L..the torque numbers are not that much difference....if u do it right u can get 220+ and 170+ft lb wit a K20A2 motor...the Type R K20 can make those number much easier tho....but $$$ is the issue...and K24 element, crv, accord does not have the Vtec capabilities like the K20's...K24 have only 2 lobes intake ...versus the 3 lobes in K motors Type S , TSX, Type R

the K24A2 (TSX) has the same 3 rocker 3 lobe VTEC as the K20A2. The head casting is about 95% the same. The K24A2 head just has a coolant crossover that goes through the IM. hondata makes a spacer/adapter kit where you can use a K20A2 or K20A type R intake manifold with the K24A2 engine.

here is a link to an old page on the hondata website about tuning the K24A2. I saved the link and it still works, although last time I checked there is no link to it on hondata's site.

http://www.hondata.com/tuning_the_tsx.html

If you are considering doing a K24 swap, then dont waste your time with the K24A's with 2 rocker VTEC. Its the same as the Base RSX K20A3, its just not the same feeling as the 3 rocker VTEC and HP is harder to make. You can get a K24A2 with 6 speed tranny for less than $3000. you can get it with just the longblock for about $2000. You will want to use a hondata reflashed RSX-S ecu or a K-Pro system since K24A use drive-by-wire and therefore use a different air/fuel metering system and will not work with any other systems. you will want to swap the intake manifold and TB to the RSX-S or K20A type R units that run a throttle cable, map sensor and tps sensor like your civic.

your best bet and best bang for the buck will be the K24A2. If you get one of the 2 rocker K24a's, you will have to spend a lot of money to get it to put down the over 205whp a stock K24A2 will do with just a reflash. The stock air/fuel program in the Ecu on a TSX absolutely sucks. Hondata has a reflash that adds 25whp to a stock TSX. look at the link I added.

if your doing a K24, do the TSX motor, youll be happier in the end. you can make 220whp with a TSX motor, you cant rev it as much, but hey, gotta give something up for that extra displacement.

The CRV motors arent bad, but they will not make as much power as the K20A2 or the TSX motor

yea the K24A2 is only good for about 8000-8200rpm MAX on stock internals/valvetrain. the hondata reflash specifically for the TSX raises it to 7600 rpm, which is the highest I personally would go. Piston speed at 7600rpm on a K24A2 is about the same as 8400-8600RPM on a K20A2, due to the longer stroke of the K24A2.

heres a video from hondata of the difference between a stock 6 speed TSX and a reflashed (but otherwise stock) 6 speed TSX

man it would be better just to wait and save the extra money for the TSX K24A2. It is well worth it in the end. The difference in price between the two is no more than $1000, and the K24A2 has about 60 more HP than the other K24's (with the hondata reflash...anybody who has a TSX and does not get it is a complete FOOL)

no more than 1000?.....lol.....u find me a TSX longblock for 1500 and i take it....and give u an extra 100$........Accords are by the millions...TSX on the other hand are not so many....its totally overated....

I can get one for $2300 shipped. if you paid $500 for a K24A1 then you either got a deal or got one with high mileage. the cheapest I can find one with decent mileage is right at $1100. even on ebay they are $1300 for just the longblock. K24A4's are going for $900+ on ebay... K24A3's are going for about $1000.

He said if he got a K24A (assuming he meant K24A4) that he would have $2500 extra to build the engine. Why not just spend the extra to begin with and you would have an engine with much higher C/R, higher lift cams (with 3 rocker VTEC), and almost the same head as a RSX-S. The K24A2 is capable of over 200whp stock (with reflash). The K24A4 is capable of about 140whp stock (no reflash avaliable) on a GOOD day.

Thats a negative...there is a reflash availible...through a member on k20a.org..he got kpro to work on k24a4's ..thanks to his custom harness he made...he sold about a dozen already...
