I just got back from EB games and I put a Premium PS3 on reserve. They require a $100 deposit. It might be too late for some stores, but it's worth a shot to give them a call to see if they still have them available. Gamestop and EB Games are both doing the pre-orders.

Most stores are receiving 16 units per store.

This below is taken from an email I received from Gamestop.

Limited PlayStation 3 Pre-order
GameStop and EB Games will begin accepting limited pre-orders for the PlayStation 3 console on Tuesday, October 10, on a first come, first served basis. Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to deplete this allocation very quickly, most likely in minutes. We will not accept additional pre-orders at this time. To avoid an unnecessary trip we strongly recommend you call your local store to determine availability. A $100 reservation deposit is required, which can be funded with cash, credit or trade. As we cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, a reservation deposit does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch. Reservations/Purchases are limited to 1 per household.

Our limited online pre-order program will be announced at a later date, after software and accessory availability dates are confirmed. Online product pricing and availability will vary and will be fulfilled independent of store reservations. .

Well, IF they do get them in, which most likely they will, then you have first dibs. They probably just have to put that as a disclaimer.

still, unless u plan on flipping it on ebay as soon as u get it, don't see a pt in buying one so early on.

You do realize that Sony is giving up int he States, thats why they are only releaseing 400,000 units to North America....so good luck getting one, and for $600 for a console your a damn fool. I will be enjoying my Forza 2 (360) Halo 3 (360) and The revolution while your jsut paying for a console! :dunno: :goodjob:

True, it is expensive. BUT, if you're also getting it for the Blue-Ray capability, it's a good deal. Especially since a Blue-Ray dvd player is around $1000.

I know for the 360, there is an add-on that you can buy that will enable you to play HD-DVD's. That add-on is like $200 tough, so total you'd be paying $600. I think HD-DVD players are around $1000 as well, so technically you get a better deal with the 360.

I myself am going to get a Nintendo Wii. I will be selling this PS3 and wait a while before I buy it.

hd dvd players are around 500

so paying 600 for a hd dvd 360 is like meh? where as paying 400 less for a blu ray by getting the ps3 is a good deal.

Also sony isnt giving up on the US whoever said that just doesnt have their shit together. But yes only 400,000 to the US first shipment only. Why is that so bad? microsoft only delivered 200,000 in their first?

Sony did it with the ps2 also. They announced that they wont send too many units over. Their spreading their market around.

I meant for the HD dvd add on. not for HD display of games. To play HD dvd's its gonna cost as much as the ps3 which plays blu-ray

The nintendo controller isnt just the stick everyone thinks it is. I has a regular controller also.. btw <--- reference to the next poster

Lol

Atleast.

Make sure you bring a folding chair and food.

And pray you don't sit there for 20+ hours, only for them to be sold out before you get yours.
