Does anyone have any hands on expirence with there turbos? Supposively they are made in america with garett internals but alot of people bash the company and say they make cheap parts but i know a couple of people using there downpipes and manifolds...

i read this article and it was pretty intresting...http://www.differentracing.com/multimedia/photos/turbo_development/turbo_drama/

So is anyone on the board running an XS power turbo? Im curious to see if these turbos have any longetivity, paying $300 for this turbo beats paying $700-1000 for another manufacturer

they suck. manifolds crack,
the turbos are hit and miss. the new ones ar epretty decent, they make good power and are reliable for the price.

there are knockoffs of ssac turbos just fyi. dont buy any of that turbo zy crap

well there was a company out in china copying the real xs power turbos, but the ssautochrome version uses garett internals and are made in the usa....read that article and it will explain everything.

I've changed my thought process on these slightly sense the last time I commented on 'em...

If I were upgrading the turbo on my drag car... or any car that I was taking seriously to make some serious power with good parts, I definitely wouldn't even consider any ssac&co. turbo. However... if I were upgrading the turbo on my daily driver... or any car that was just a toy to play around with without worrying about making the most power or whatever, then I just may consider a SSAC turbo setup. After all, a ssac gt28r + manifold runs for about $400 shipped... a real gt28r, even the cheapest version, costs more than double that.

like charles said, anyone wanting to make REAL power, wont buy one. If you are in a bind, an want to get the car running, they are great for that.

just rmember, that they MAY NOT LAST. if you are comfortable with that, then buy it.

we have done a few SSAC/XS power kits, with no problems form the turbos. but the manifolds break left an right on the HONDA cars.

now the SUpras, we have used 3 xs power manifolds with NO PROBLEMS at all. Ozzie, GGPIS3, Casey have all used them on their 2JZs an we havent had a single isssue

Mike, ever see any trouble from the ssac manifolds on sr20's?

the manifolds and downpipes run well in the mr2 community. People are skeptical on the turbos but there are a couple mr2 owners running the turbos making 300+ horsepower daily drivers.....

makes me wonder...if i can shell out 400 for a full kit for my car and have it run atleast 20,000 miles i guess it would be a steal comapred to spending 1800 on the next best t3/t4 kit for the car.

shit i could buy a backup turbo just incase the turbo gives and still be in the clear

exactly. as long as you are prepared for it to not last, then i say get it. cause two things will happen:
1) youll be lucky and not have any trouble
2) youll have an issue an have to replace it

Charles, the manifold to get for the 240s is the MEGAN RACING, the XS power ones crack like the honda ones

I have a XS turbo and 2 manifolds in my shop. I have to say the quality looks good, but I haven't put them to use yet.

Im using an XS single turbo manifold on my RB26 build up. It cost me $200 were as a HKS one can run for as much as $2000. When doing research on it I found that the early designs for RB's cracked a lot, but supposedly the newer design doesn't. It was also recomended to brace the manifold to help support the weight of bigger turbos.

Like you, I figured for $200 I could justify having cracks fixed or even buying another. Especially when the the cheapest "high quality" single turbo manifold I have found in the past year was $800 used.

Speaking of these XS Guys. Does anyone have any experience with the FMIC kits? I have read very conflicting things about them and was just wondering if anyone here really knew.

we have used XS intercoolers on 600whp setups with no problems

Dont forget about the R&D that went into some of these companies designs... Keep buying all these cheap knock offs and sooner or later there won't be anymore to copy from.

I've used their intercoolers on numerous cars with no problems. They may not be as efficient but as many have said, if your not looking for every last pony then it doesn't really matter. I've got an SR here now that the customer bought the manifold/T28 turbo package and the manifold is horrible. Its MIG welded, not even MIG stainless, then has a TIG stainless overlay so it looks like the high quality stuff. It has a little bracing under the runners and a small turbo flange to head flange brace but it still looks like it will end up cracking like all the others I've seen. The turbo looks to be decent but the outlet pipe holes only line up to 4 of the 5 holes on the turbo and I'm using a Nissan outlet pipe. All and all it will work for now but I don't expect much out of that setup.

how about tht

No their manifolds are pretty much shit too. Its hard to fuck up an intercooler as long as it seals it will work, its just a matter of how efficiently.
