I appreciate the comment. No Spoons for me. The biggest I will go is 13". I'm trying to decide on black or a lighter shade of Honda blue. Later, QD.

is there some after market springs or what?

I know you didn't do the "ghetto mod" of cutting your springs

I know you didn't do the "ghetto mod" of cutting your springs

Why not? That's what I did on the 510. I will end up getting actual suspension for it, but I just couldn't stand the ride height, and I want to concentrate the money for that car on restoring/swapping it. Then I will get real suspension. Besides, on old cars like ours the springs are linear, not progressive, so it doesn't really affect the spring or the ride, just the travel. I honestly didn't feel any difference in ride except it hits the bumpstops sooner.

Hail yeah I ghetto-modded it. Except I don't cut. I heat.

I just couldn't stand the ride height,

Exactly. Later, QD.

but heat is much better though..

I thought it fucked up the ride if you cut them..

On newer cars it does because the spring rate isn't consistant, it's progressive.

Actually, heating them is much worse than cutting them.

If you cut them, use a chop saw - it cuts fast, and keeps the heat down.

If you do heat them up, they really should be tempered again correctly. And it is just about impossible to get their spring rates correct with this method. Forget them staying linear if you just heat them up without tempering them again.

Of course, I don't think that QD will care too much ..... :D

man some panasports would look nice on that car. they do make them in smaller diameters that would fit that car.

EDIT: i found they make them in a 13x5.5 size.

actually heating is worse

For me, it has been a much better experience. I enjoy a much smoother ride with heated springs. My first car ever, a 1980 Datsun 210 SW, had cut coils. It was bouncy as hail. All 13 of my cars after that, I heated the springs. They all rode close to stock as far as smoothness of ride goes. I've never had a suspension related problem on any car, either. Plus, it's much easier to do as you don't have to take anything off the car. Just heat and go. I'd recommend heating over cutting anyday for comfort. Later, QD.
