No doubt an Sti can hustle, especially on a tight track like Tsukuba, even with 319 ftlbs of torque I don't see how stayed in front.....Oh, put Tsuchya in the Z06, i'd bet it'd be different.

Yeah I find it hard to believe a car like the ZO6 that has better brakes, more power, weighs less, and pulls a higher G load on a skid pad was unable to take a stock sti. The guy in the sti was driving that thing at the limit and the rest of the cars were hardley making tire noise in some of the turns. I think Subaru paid for the track rental fee on this one.

murcialago should of taken it...but its kind of hard to overtake on a tight track like that...

awd on that course is hard to beat. (look at the time attacks)

First thats not just a regular STI its a S204 it has way better suspension than what we get here, which in turn mean turns and brakes better. Skid pad numbers mean nothing in the real world. That being said I'm suprised he couldnt get around him in the vette. You would be suprised how fast a stock sti is around the track.

the STi looked more set up specifically for the track. had some crazy understeer. you could see Tsuchya plowing through the turns, granted he was late braking like a mother fucker, the vette ran a much sharper line and transitioned much smoother. it was really hurt in the corner exit speeds....didnt look like the driver was confident enought to really push the car around the corner like it should have been (maybe hes not used to driving on the "right" side lol) i would say in the hands of a better driver the Z06 would have done much better. cool video though, can wait for it to come stateside

That was a Bone stock S204, that's the way they com. Under steer....that's the way they come. Late braking is really the only way to get an STI to rotate. The drive in the vette was a very good driver he was hitting all his apexes. You can push an STI a lot harder and get away with some mistakes, you cant pull that with a 500hp rear wheel drive car, mistakes are much more costly.

haha you can tune a stock suspension dude...and most cars on that show are set up with the driver piloting them in mind. Tsuchya prefers cars that are prone to understeer on the Tsukuba Circuit..makes for quicker lap times with his driving style. sure the driver in the Vette was hitting the apex's but he wasnt pushing the car like it could have been. he hit the brakes too early (obvious by the GTR taking the inside so quickly) and the onset of power was delayed. the driver should have been able to use throttle modulation to rotate the car around corners, if you watch the feet shots he was half pedaling it. im not saying i could have done a better job in the least but with a better driver (i.e a Boris Said or even Tsuchya) the car would have been a front runner from the get go. not saying the 204 isnt a nice car

I like the fact that the uber expensive Lambo didnt catch the Vette or Skyline. Does the S204 have more power than a stock Sti.

yes S204 have more power than regular STi. This EJ20 has better pistons, crankshaft, exhaust, turbo and ECU, and most important an AWESOME suspension. They come 319bhp and 320lb-ft of torque but it's the suspension that makes the biggest different around the track.

haha no shit.

do you know how much camber you can get out of that car in stock form, no you dont but I do. I'm not even going to get into it with you, the bottom line is that there is basically nothing you can do to an sti without replacing parts to get it to rotate. As far as the drivers ability in the vette, the guy is good, maybe he isnt Boris Said but he is damn good.

From what I have read the Z06 takes a while to get comfortable with and is down right scary when you first drive it to its limits. Im sure if the guy had as much experience with the car as the guy in the Sti did the Vette would have come out on top.

All I have to say is that if someone gave me all of those cars, I would sell the Lambo and use the money to build/buy a three car garage, and some nice rims with some nice slicks on them for my three badass cars to take to the track.

its not stock...its got completely different suspension parts than a non 204 sti lol....therefore the driving characteristics of the 204 are different than that of a USDM sti. also camber isnt the determining factor in making a car rotate well. infact its not even the most important alignment specification for the job, tow is. i also know my fair share ab suspension tuning and am well aware of what a bone stock wrx/sti is capable of with good tires and an aggressive alignment. you should come out to the Auto X this weekend and see how different they corner without changing asingle stock part. also i was just commenting my opinion ofthe race and the cars...no ones tryin to start shit lol

Yes it is the S204 is a stock sti in japan, they come from the factory setup just like that one is

its got completely different suspension parts than a non 204 sti

The only parts that are diffrent are the shocks and springs

lol....therefore the driving characteristics of the 204 are different than that of a USDM sti.

I'm well aware of that

also camber isnt the determining factor in making a car rotate well.

First no one said that it was, however overall grip has a drastic effect on how the car rotates.

[QUOTE=Sport20] infact its not even the most important alignment specification for the job, tow is.

Once again no one said it was, and its toe not "tow"

i also know my fair share ab suspension tuning and am well aware of what a bone stock wrx/sti is capable of with good tires and an aggressive alignment.

I know my fair share about suspension tuning as well I've been doing it on various cars for the last 10 years. Not only that but I have been on track with my STI in stock form and with my sti with three diffrent sets of alignment specs. I've also been on with several diffrent sway bars and sway bar settings, and have probally logged more hours in the last three months on track than you probally have in the last year. SO not to be cocky but I have a very good understanding of what it takes to make a sti rotate and what you can do with a stock sti and an alignment.

you should come out to the Auto X this weekend and see how different they corner without changing asingle stock part.

As you can tell from the previous post I've got a pretty good idea, you should come chase me around CMP, TGP, Roebling, Road Atlanta, VIR, Barber, or Autobahn. Ill be at all of those tracks over the next 2 months. Autocross is for kids.

also i was just commenting my opinion ofthe race and the cars...no ones tryin to start shit lol

I agree with part of youre opinion the vette should be faster.

i actually agree with baller here.

oh yeah.. anyone else notice the GT-R had the fastest lap times?

The Z06 weighs hundreds of pounds less and makes a lot more power, it should have flown by the STI. No offense intended but in every Best Motoring I've seen it's the Japanese cars that always win, no matter what.

who do you think is paying the track fees....id be willing to bet its the japanese. and of course if the track is in japan.(idk if it is or not) ... the lambo shouldnt have come last. thats bs. and the STi shouldnt have come first. corvette FTW
id take the corvette over ANY of those cars.... well maybe take the lambo...sell it and buy 2 vettes...

The vette should be faster, but that is a rather tight circuit and there is a big diffrence between turning fast lap times and passing someone.
