Guys I can use your help. I have a 95 civic with a 1.5 liter engine. It has been overheating from time to time for almost a year, but it has never been consistend and when I add more water it is ussually okay.

Well yesterday it started overheating and the radiator if full.
I pulled the thermostat and it is good.

The top hose is very hot and the bottom hose is cool to the touch, so that tells me that water is not circulating through the block.

The only thing left that I can think of would be the water pump. Can someone tell me where it is on the 1.5 liter engine? I dont see it on the side with the belts so I am guessing 6that it is running off the distributor or somethign.

But befroe I start digging I was hoping someone could tell me where to look

Your water pump is located under the timing belt cover near the bottom. It is run off the timing belt. You may also want to check to see if water is flowing thru the radiator. When it gets up to temp place ur hand on different spots on the rad to be sure that water is flowing thru and it is not clogged. just be careful not to burn yourself. Hope that helps.

So the timing belt must be removed in order to change the water pump?

Thanks for the other suggestions, I will check those as well.

That is correct sir. That is why most people do the timing belt and water pump at the same time wether it needs it or not.

DAMNIT!

Just like the damn Quad 4 and new I4's in GM cars. Total bullshit. I guess I'll be doing that soon enough too.
