Any S2000 Specialists out there?
I purchased a wrecked S2000 for cheap. I'm rebuilding it. Just got it running and I have some issuses with it.
1. I try revving it up and it's like is hits a 3000 RPM Limiter... It just will not go above 3000 RPM.
2. I put a radiator in it and cranked up the engine. It didn't seem as though the coolant was circulating. I was affraid to run it too long. So, I was wondering how I would be able to tell if the water pump is bad without taking it off and just replacing it.
There are other issuse...but these are the most important right now.
I know there is a lot of Honda knowledge out there. Any help would be great.
Keep in mind this is my first Honda... Never ever owned one in the past.
Thanks!

Rev limiter means its in LIMP/SAFE mode. You need to see what CEL it is throwing. Its most likely throwing a light, scan it an report back with the code.
What do you mean "not circulating"? Let it run, and check to see if it gets hot.

i bet it is probably either the crank position sensor, or the cam position sensor. check those first.

Ok... Checked or shall I say replugged all connectors I could find. Problem fixed. Revs fine now.
Next problem. I need to know what color wires powered the stock elec fan. The car as I mentioned came to me unfinished and has a lot of unused wires up in the nose. I figured out (I think) which ones are for the headlights (that I don't have). I installed a Koyo Rad with dual Flex-a-lite fans. Just need to figure out what wires will power the fans. Trying to go with the stock set up. I can always go with the aftermarket temp sensor and fan relay...but I'm trying to avoid that if at all possible. I could always buy a service manual on eay for the wire diagram. That would make too much sense and be too easy right???
Thanks for the help so far.

Oh, the coolant finally started circulating. I was just a little too cautious and didn't let it run long enough since I didn't have the fan wired up.
I need a shop to install my new braided brake lines and bleed the brakes. Also need an alignment.
Any good shops close to downtown? The car really has poor brakes right now. After it was crashed and put back together they didn't bleed the brakes or get the alignment even close. So, I have to pump the brakes to get them to work. If I could find a shop close by I could limp the car over there.
The rest of the parts should be here soon. I'm guessing I'll have it done with the exception of a paint job and airbags within a month.
Thanks...

sometimes i wonder why people with no general car knowledge take on huge projects like rebuilding a salvage car and rewiring engine bays and shit. bleeding you brakes involves the following parts...two people, an 8mm wrench, some brake fluid and patience.
or you could buy a vacum pump w/ speed bleeder attachment and bleed them by yourself. for $30 those things work wonders.

I wonder why people feel the need to be, well never mind.
I could pay $30 for those things so they can sit in my storage unit and never be used again. Or I can pay $40 for a shop that can do it in 20min while I eat lunch. I live in a loft downtown where Bleeding brakes, engine swaps, etc. piss off my property manager not to mention violate my lease. I already tried the engine swap thing in a storage unit (got kicked out) this spring.
Having a multicolored S2000 without headlights sitting in my lot already draws unwelcome attention.
I'm not Rewiring...
I came to this site where people are suposed to have Honda knowledge. So, if nobody can tell me the color of the fan wires I'll buy a damn book with a diagram for $20 on ebay.
Having bought a Honda in the middle of being rebuilt missing parts for $9K was not my dream project. The car is not for me obviously. I already have my own project which I need to ask no questions about.
The S2000 came with out some parts... As I add the parts and pieces without Honda knowledge I ask some questions...
So Brad and Stiffler, if you want to ask why I'm asking a certain question than go ahead...
Or better yet, you could share this great weath of car knowledge you have by telling me the color of the fan wires...
For all of the helpful people out there I say Thanks. :D

Hey man you probably wanna try out s2ki.com. Be sure to try and search the wiring stuff first because most likely somebody else has had the same problem as you in the past 4 or 5 years the site has been online.

Cool... Thanks.
I think some people I know have seen your 240SX driving through a neighborhood off of Hames Road in Woodstock....including Brads94Accord. Does your 240 have Skyline taillights? And who is that hot chick in your sig posing with it? She looks like she needs my thumb in her butt.
And BTW-searching is your friend. There is this new thing....its called Google...you should see what all the hype's about.

again, i repeat myself i wonder why people with no general car knowledge take on huge rebuild projects. if you can't even swing a hammer and don't know what a saw is, does it make sense to try to build a house?
