K7 GSX-R1000: 3 way ECU with 3 different settings on the handlebar: Sports mode, Wet mode and Normal. Much in the same way as on the highest spec Benelli TNT to control the power delivery. In effect traction control! Upgraded chassis, more power etc. More detail later.

More speculation or truth??? Regardless I want one.....

did it really need more power? lol

the multi mapped ECU is a cool idea, i'm suprised it hasn't made it to production until now. wonder how much more the price tag will rise?

No need for a multi-mapped ECU on a bike. It's easy enough to practice wrist-control. Wait a little bit and real traction control will plummet in price. I want a system similar to the Magneti-Marelli setup.

I agree, no need for traction control on a sportbike.

Not sure how I feel about the AMA allowing it on thier superbikes yet.

A number of bikes have had multi-mapped ECU's for a few years now for each gear and engine temp.

Don't get me wrong - I am all for traction control- just there isn't a "need" for it. I still "want" it. Just can't afford it. I am undecided about it's use in racing. Yes, it does help them go faster on their lap times, yes it is a big step forward, but it is more exciting to see them sliding the bikes through the turns.

This weekend I was at Deals Gap, I had my rear slide on me a few times. Both on dry/wet roads. I averaged around 45-70 mph throughout.

I highly doubt the price tag will rise.

bikes make more Hp and get lighter every year -it was just a matter of time before there had to be some sort of traction control-honestly i thought it would take longer then this

If MSRP was 10k for the 06's i doubt its going to be 12-15k MSRP when it comes out. Just the way I see it.

I forsee some really heavy modification by the folks who will race the gsxr-1000's (first thing they will probably do is chop off that throwback dual exhaust :-) )

Second thing they'll try to figure out is how to take off those freakin integrated rear signal lights, lol

the new 1k gixxer will have the three position switch =)
I guess everyone will be coming out with some form of traction control soon

I still want everyone to bring back the 750 class

only thing I don't agree with is the dual exhaust.......otherwise, I'm quite interested in riding one to experience the traction control!!! as I'm usually a one off guy, guess I'll possibly own one in '08.

the doesn't have traction control...its just a selectable fuel map or power curve...like a power comander with a bar mounted switch, two of the positions simply limit the power in certian PRM ranges
